Dev Diary - Ramblings

Today I was sitting on the toilet and… never mind what I was doing,

Today I had an epiphany, and I’m pretty excited about it. Basically, I’ve been wanting to do side comics for you guys for a while now, but I couldn’t figure out where they would fit into the overall Expanding Universe.

It’s not that everything has to overlap, but once you start doing it, it’s hard to stop, you know? Plus, there's the name. But it’s nice when things are connected, it makes them feel more like they matter. It gives the feeling of forward momentum.

So, the comics I had in mind would be short one offs, and they would be able to focus on what my stories do not. For example, fast growth! That doesn’t fit in the games, because the games and stories generally obey the laws of physics. Can’t grow out of nothing, right? But you can with magic, for example. Or sci-fi.

So how would these other works fit into the general narrative?

Well, it’s a simple solution. Not particularly original, but that’s okay.

Hypnosis, Endowed and most of the stories take place in the real world. Comics, however, could take place in the universe as established entertainment. Movies, TV, comics, games, all there for the characters to be enjoying on their couches.

Would also give me something to put on the TV in the backgrounds instead of using movies and whatnot. That works now, but when I start to make games meant for Steam it won’t fly. I’ve seen the “make my own movies and TV shows” done in games several times before, but I don’t believe I’ve seen it where those movies can be seen elsewhere as stand alone content.

The other advantage would be in using established IP. It’s far easier to use a setting the reader is already familiar with it, especially when it comes with specific rules and systems. When you create your own, you can’t jump into events right away, you have to do world building and establish the setting before jumping into it. Or at least, I feel like you do.

All this to say I still want to make more side content for you guys, something to offer in between game updates without taking much time away from the game development process itself, and generally, something for me to do to keep myself from going crazy when it's all feeling monotonous and giving myself breaks from the games while still being productive.

Also, I want to try out different categories to sort my posts better. This was Dev Diary, where I might jump right into a topic without much of an introduction and ramble a bit.

We already have Behind The Scenes, Weekend Updates, and the occasional Latest News. I always try to start up a routine of weekly updates, but I inevitably fail to keep up with them after a few weeks. So something new I want to try is doing beginning of the month updates and keeping to it in order to give status updates on everything, with the goal of making weekly(ish) posts throughout the month.

The next post will be a "making of" post where I summarize everything from Episode 14 now that it's basically finished, and I also want to come out with more polls to get feedback from everyone.

Thanks for reading!

You should really do it from her perspective that way you can add in her thoughts and you can add in comedic complaints when clothes stop fitting, get to tight, or other issues caused by her growing body. You already have two games from the male perspective, honestly doing one from a female perspective would be better because that's the person actually experiencing it, or do two paths so you can see both sides of the scenario.

I have a somewhat similar idea for a future game! It's still with a male protagonist, but follows a guy as his roommate gets in a car crash with a head injury that causes her to keep growing curvier. The Main Character could choose whether to date her, encourage her to be a camgirl, or some kind of friends with benefits/work off her rent agreement since she lost her job as she has to deal with growing a little bigger with each passing day.

Expanding Universe Games

Here's a thought, new game, from a female main character perspective where she gets a similar deal as Haley wherein she gets hypnotized but is given a control over how she is hypnotized but isn't given the control that Haley has and so the game progresses with the idea that she's growing, can't be hypnotized again due to loss of of contact with the watch holder and has to live with the consequences. In each day like a slice of life sim in a sandbox kind of way. Routes could be breast expansion, ass expansion, fmg, lactation or a combination. I think that'd be cool instead of bouncing from girl to girl.

I love the idea, solid premise and I think you'll do it justice with your preferred story flavoring. I always end up being too wordy as well. I've always been told writers need to 'kill their darlings' but I never want to cut anything. I don't know much about graphics engines to have an opinion, Virtamate looks pretty good though. I'd only worry that all the extra features would lengthen production time, but then that all adds up to a better looking finished render so it's not like it's a bad trade.

I love idea but i need a story for Haley. The expanded universe with comic can expand more for example more background for the female protagonista.

LETS

I have three concepts I've had in mind for a while. None are particularly original, but I haven't really seen them done in comic form, and I think they would be a lot of fun. They would be based on existing media, but with just enough of a twist to avoid copyright issues. The first one is a quick one where an explorer meets a raider of tombs as they're both chasing the same ancient artifact, an object said to give the powers of fertility. At first they can't stand each other, but soon their uh... attraction... starts to grow. The other two I'll probably save until seeing how the first one is received. All three are basically written although they're currently too long to fit into a quick comic format. They'd make for fine stories, but I like the idea of trying to fit everything into a comic format to force the stories into tighter, quicker narratives without wasting time and getting right to the action. I'd like to get each one into under a hundred pages, then be able to release a page or two each week to keep the amount of time they take at a minimum. I'm not great at keeping things short, so it would be a fun challenge in that regard. I'd like to have them fully written out with page count in mind, so they don't end up getting exponentially longer as most of my stories and games tend to do. The other benefit of this concept is to use it as an excuse to learn a new graphics engine, either VaM or DAZ. Currently I'm leaning towards VaM. If I'm going to spend hours learning it anyway, I might as well make a something out of it, I figure.

Expanding Universe Games

This is a cool idea to have some fun short form stuff between the longer and more complicated Hypnosis and Endowed stories. I can only image trying to keep the storylines straight every time you make a scene is maddening. Easy creative breaks are important, though I did vote to keep working on Hypnosis rather than let you take a break with Endowed, now I feel mean. When you say 'established IP' do you mean in our real world or the shared universe of your stories? Will we be seeing fan comics for 'real' media or original ideas that are supposed to be popular movies or games in the Expanded Universe universe that explore various ways girls can be... expanded? Both would be kind of awesome. And establish that maybe your Universe is a bit more horny and kinky than reality. Have you had any ideas of what you'd like to make if you go for this?

Else Chalk

In the real world hypnosis doesn't do what it does in your games. Here's the thing though we are carbon based life forms, you could easily explain away any faster charges with increased appetite and food consumption which would facilitate enough conversion of chemical energy for a faster growth or a mutation that allows additional consumption of energy which potentially you could add more expansion types of you wanted, would make things interesting.

I feel like i am looking in the mirror while reading this… ngl.

The Magical Gurl

That's a pretty cool epiphany. I worry about burn out though. I am excited to get any content from you possible, but not at the expense of your health. So great idea, but don't overdo it okay?
