Hypnosis Episode 13b Beta Testing

What's to know about the update?

I'd recommend not reading this until after you've played the game.

It took a while! 45 days when I hoped it would be a third of that. 

I had a few reasons that I've mentioned in previous posts, but recently it was taking the effort to try to make the story more cohesive.

About a week ago I was looking at the update and thinking, "this feels like a bunch of unrelated scenes mashed together" and took a step back, zooming in and out of the story as a whole several times to see what needed to be changed.

Currently, I'm pretty happy with it.

I feel like it does a decent job of answering a lot of previous questions while asking new ones, and it closes plotlines as it introduces new ones.

Part of what took extra time was planning out future storylines and figuring out how to set them up with this episode.

Double spoiler warning:

Originally, I only planned on Laura listening in on the MC as he hypnotizes the girls. She would simply sit back and judge him for it. If he chose to command the girls to do things against their will, she would approach him in an "I'll be your evil minion" appeal. If he chose to be a gentleman and not use the watch for evil, she would simply approach him with a "please forgive me, I'll do anything to make it up to you" kind of way.

Then, while writing the scene (on an airplane flying back during Christmas, no less), the idea of her hijacking the events but surprisingly being helpful to the MC struck me. This way the default option is now the eviler one, leaving Laura to take the blame for the player.

Take that, Laura haters! She's now helping you take over the world instead of stopping you. Bah ha ha!

In writing the different characters, most say and do what I expect them to, for the most part. They'll be more sassy or funny than I expect sometimes, but it's Laura that keeps doing things that surprise me.

And that was part of the issue with writing this update, I had to go back and double-check all the other paths and future endings to make sure they'd still work with this little change.

The other change I'd like to do before finishing this update is to make Laura's influence even more of a relief for the player. So far, it only really changes Leah's and Ashley's attitudes about you fucking their family members. But I'd like to come up with even more reasons that you would consider potentially giving Laura the reigns to your harem in the future.

I was debating the pros and cons of making the player be responsible for using the mind control for his own selfish ends vs. letting Laura take the blame, and some might rather make that decision themselves, so I hope to make it so that some players still can on the evil path.

This is simply a way for the average player who views themself as "good" to still explore all of the different endings without feeling like they are themselves being too corrupted by playing.
