It pretty much does go from one side to the other. For context, the scar is the result of trying to remove bullet shrapnel from the wound on her own when it was first inflicted. It was an absolutely stupid thing to do ("a doctor that operates on themself has a fool for a patient") and she was clumsy. An actual doctor had to deal with the mess (thus the scene in the previous month's commission).
