Proof of Life #218: Somewhat of a complicated week
Added 2024-04-15 13:24:32 +0000 UTCHeya you three and two-legged people, how is it going in this fine morning/afternoon/evening? All good? I do hope so! I've had a relatively weird week, but nothing too dramatic, mind you.
So, what was "complicated" this week is that the commissions I was waiting for came a lot later than expected, we're talking Sunday rather than Wednesday, and they were new outfits and haircuts for the main characters, so I was stuck with a ton of placeholders by the end of the week, which made it a bit harder to work. It's also not as fun when half of the sprites you're working with are either a stick figures or a weird collages.
Still, everything came through in the end, and you can see Leto's new outfit as well as Rose's haircut in the above screenshot. If you squint very hard, you can even see a few pixels of Cyanna's new haircut in the lower right corner. I did a lot of writing for this main quest, which will have quite a lot of dialogs to progress the main story. I even added one (skippable) Triple Trident duel to this quest, and will add another one later, all with entirely new cards.
Another thing I also want to do is to add temporary heavy make-up to Cyanna and Rose's dialog portraits to fit their new look at least a little. The sad thing is, the illustrator is currently very busy, and won't be able to finish them before the end of this update. Since it's "just" make-up, I tried to ask someone else, but there's a risk the new portraits for this update will only make it into the next update, unfortunately. I hope it won't happen though.
That's about all I can think of for this week. More in the next Monday (PoL) episode!

2024-04-16 07:38:33 +0000 UTCcould you also add little, tiny details in the faces of Rose's and Cy's pixel art models of the make-up. Its not much but it goes a long way. Just put a little more red into the tone of the skin colour and exchange 4-6 pixels in the face (on the cheeks) for example. Or make a stronger red for the lips. Or black for the eyeleashes. Even though its pixel art you can do a lot with it and all that just by some soft tiny little changes in the color value of some pixels. Best wishes and greetings!
