Proof of Life #121: progress report #9, feeling quite satisfied with what I've done : )

What is up, citizens of the world, it's ya boy, N_Taii!... 

If you haven't died from the cringe yet, you might be interested in what I have to show in this PoL.

HC3's Story: Since I'm almost in the story development phase, I've been thinking quite hard about the prologue. I initially intended to introduce each of HC3's four heroines one by one, with one whole segment dedicated to each one.

However, I feel this would make the prologue drag on for too long, so I've been working on modifying the story slightly to have them all meet at some point and not only develop their personality and relationship with the MC at the same time, but make it feel more organic, as if all the characters knew each other and weren't simply tied to the story solely through their relationship with the MC.

Also, I've been thinking of ways to insert sexual content within the beginning of the story. Since, for obvious reasons, I can't do it with the main and side characters too early in the game (except for some light content), I'll have to rely on extra characters for that. Fortunately, contrary to HC2, I now have an entire city to work with, and the possibilities for extra characters are endless. This isn't to say I'll be adding new characters every 5 seconds, but it would be a shame to not exploit the potential of HC3's settings.

(I don't know about you, but I love maids, so expect maid-related content. This is non-negotiable^^)

HC3's Map: Completely and entirely done! It took a bit longer than expected, because I went and made some of the windows bigger, so it would be easier to see what's happening behind them (wink wink).

Now, all maps are ready, night and day, sound design is done with soundtracks depending on the map and time of day, same for ambience sounds. I've added some animations here and there, like falling leaves and fireflies, to make it prettier. I'm particularly happy with the night maps (example in lower left corner, but it looks far better in game with animations and all).

HC3's Gameplay: Lots of QoL changes. The map being bigger and more difficult to navigate than in HC2, I've added a simple fast travel option (upper left corner). I wanted to make it more fancy, but decided that simple is best in this case.

As you can see in the upper right corner, I've made a character profile menu. I've struggled with it since this morning, but I've managed to make something half-decent. It can be accessed via the in-game menu, displays some basic information about the game's main and side heroines, and will probably contain(depending on Patreon funding) a few CG variations depending on the girls' corruption stage. It still needs some work, like removing the white background as well as switching the rough full-body portraits with finished ones, but at least it works as intended.

Last but not least, HC3 has an in-game save function to not only save, but also load and delete without having to go back to the main menu! It also display some basic info on the bottom. That should make everyone's experience more agreeable. 

(Ignore the portraits and names displayed, they're just generic NPC that RPGM generates automatically.)

I almost didn't see you comment. Notifications aren't all that great in Patreon, so it would be better to comment under the most recent posts so other Patrons and I can better see them : ) Your idea is something I've thought about for a while now, but the current plugin (see it as an extension of the RPGMaker engine, adding new functionalities) is relatively limited in what you can and cannot change, and text can prove quite difficult to modify. That's why, instead of changing bio informations, I wanted to change the full-body images associated to them to reflect the different corruption stages. Maybe I can find another way to implement the status screen later on that would allow me to change both the text and the image more easily.

Hey, sorry for posting back down here. I just had a cool idea regarding that character profile menu. I think it would be insane, if the information in those bios would change depending on the story progression. Not a full blown stat-tracker like in more free-roamy games, but rather that different types of information enters the description. For example it could start with just base character traits, once corruption starts visual description and measurements, later more sexual stuff like fetishes, current "goals" or naugty titles. So maybe 4-5 bio stages for the whole game. What do you think? :)

Sorry for the late answer! That could be an option, but since the prologue has all the character meeting each other for the first time, some being more open, some being shy and reserved, banter wouldn't fit all that well for people still getting to know each other. I'll gradually start with them warming to each other and then, after the prologue, a few years later, we can start the banter. Also, RPGMaker assets like tables and such aren't all that well-suited for character seating next to each other and such. But I definitely want to add some dinner scenes and such : )

Hmm not sure if you're taking suggestions, so if you've already considered this please ignore this as speculative rambling, for the start to introduce characters but I think you could do something like a family dinner of sorts. That way you can have some banter between them, like arguing over food or something. You could even have their seating matter, with the closer they are to the MC at the table reflecting how close they are/how they feel.

Hmm, the issue with the way I made my status screen is that it's kind of difficult to modify. Not impossible, of course, as I'm planning on slowly changing the CGs, but a bit of a hassle, so modifying it depending on something as frequent as sex scenes might be a bit complicated. Sorry about that, it's my first shot at a status screen, and I haven't found a good way to make it easy to use, so I kept it pretty simple. But I might change it later in development, see if I find another way to add it in-game that would allow for simple modifications and additions: )

Don't worry, I'm not planning on making her slutty at any point in the beginning. That would kind of defeat the purpose of slow corruption anyway^^

I just hope she doesn't become slutty once she's drunk, because I feel like that wouldn't really fit her character as a nun :/

Yeah, I just thought of situations like someone pretends to be a higher church official promising her something in return for her lewdness or something and she doesn't even question their credibility. Or someone speaking to her from behind a curtain pretending to be god and ordering her to do lewd things for salvation. Something like that. Just using her being gullible. But if you have better plans with her being drunk, I'm looking forward to it

Sorry, that was a misunderstanding on my part. For some reason, I read it as being more talktative, which would result in her spilling the beans on stuff she could be blackmailed with. As for being persuaded, well, there might be some of that^^

I wouldn't call it blackmail. Just using her being gullible in order to persuade her into doing things

Fair enough, haha. Though, if the status window is tied into some in-game item that the mc is looking at, it would be cool if the character's expression and body language changed in the picture depending on whether they're in an H scene at that moment. Sorry, I'm just a big fan of status screens, so I've got a lot of ideas - yours already looks great, so don't think I dislike it.

Unfortunately, what I used for the profile window has a very limited amount of text available. What you're seeing there is kind of the limit of what I can write. I'll see what I can do though, but the main role of the profile window is to give an overview of the in-game characters, provide a better idea of what their full body look like as well as, hopefully, some added lewdness to their CGs.

Oh man, status windows are my favorite feature of good corruption/ntr games! I'd absolutely love it if the character descriptions change as they get more corrupt as well. And if it had a "how they feel about mc vs. how they feel about rival" meters that change over time, it would be even better! Ooh, and maybe a list of likes/dislikes that update throughout the story? Small details like those add so much to these types of games for me.

I kind of wanted her to have a gap in personality. As per her bio, she's gentle and soft-spoken, but can get quite clingy when drunk : )
