Proof of Life #117: Progress Report #5

Good morning-day-evening to y'all! Here comes N_Taii with another PoL with a highly functional and straight to the point yet boring title! To be honest, I've settled into a routine of only doing the maps until everything's done, so there isn't much to say currently.

HC3's Story: I've thought of something. Actually, someone gave me the idea to implement a system to easily find out whether a character has a freeroam event during a certain timeframe or not. The idea would be to introduce items, one for each girl, that could be set up in the MC's room. Then, the MC could interact with said item and, if it glows, that mean the woman linked to the item has a freeroam event.

For example, one crystal ball for the princess, one for the knight, one for the priestess, and one for the childhood friend. If the MC interacts with the princess' crystal ball on, say, a Lundath morning, and it glows pink, that means there is a freeroam event going on during this time. The knight's could glow red, the priestess, blue, and the friend, orange. It would drastically reduce the time spent walking around looking for freeroam events, and would mean less relying on the guide to find them.

Also, I'll soon post a poll to ask you about whether I should implement an extra PoV just for the MC, or if I should keep things as they were in HC1 and HC2.

HC3's Map: I've added around 5 new maps, sneak peeks for some of them above. I'm particularly proud of the magic shop (upper left), in which I've added quite a lot of curious items that can be interacted with...different results^^. Did I spent a lot of time setting up the animations? Yes, yes I did. Was it worth it? You'll tell me when you play it : )

I'll probably need around 2 more weeks to finish every map. Then again, I still need a few sprites and assets from the artists to properly start developing the story, so it'll give them some time to make those sprites in the meantime.

HC3's Art: Lots of new outfits have been made. Next up would be the MC's sprite and a few sleeping sprites for already exisiting characters. Also, dwarves, I want to add dwarves. Well, at least one, a blacksmith dwarf that loves taking care of his flowers. But that'll be for later.

No gameplay section this week, since there's nothing to be said about it!

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful week!

Maybe there is a misunderstanding, but it would indeed work as the board of HC1, except with less info (the one in HC2 didn't tell you about the girls, just quest info and character description). Basically, you have a plain old blue magic ball for each of the four characters. Nothing shows on it unless you click on the ball, with two possible results: "nothing happens", or it starts glowing. It won't glow on its own, and won't show anything unless you specifically interact with it. That way, you will have no visual hints from the get-go, and can ignore the magic balls if you wish to.

If it works as you suggest, you see that there is something going on, by seeing something visual on the item, like glowing, thus, even if you don't want to use it, you will know it. Maybe an item which you can interract with, not showing anything could be a good alternative. As you did with the board in the MC house in HC2, which tells you the state of the girls. But, if you go with the glowing thing, I'm still ok with that, I mean, it's not MY game, if there is a majority of people who wants it, it would be a shame not doing it :D

I won't put too much info though. The only thing the player would see is whether something is happening or not with a certain character, but it doesn't tell you where. Still, it should save players some time.

Yes, I know some people would rather explore by themselves, which is why I made it so you have to interact with the item by clicking on them in order to see if something is happening or not. As long as you don't click, you won't see anything. Or do you mean to say that players might be too tempted to use it anyway?

N_taii

I'm not really a fan of the items thingy. To me, it's way more fun to explore, and wonder if there is something going on, not knowing if the girl is doing naughty stuff, or just living her daily life. I think that's it's way more powerful to suggest that something happened via I don't know, stains, panties, toys, whatever left behind or something. But I understand that some people prefers it the way you suggest it. It's more straight forward. I think that maybe we could compromize with a system that tells you that something is happening, without telling you who, or where, or whatever.

Im a completionist at heart so knowing i dont have to run around looking for events is a great idea saving everyone time
