--Edited the post to add images by the artist, Dyun. One of them is slightly blurry because I had to resize it to match the size of the others.--
Hello everyone, I'm here to bring you yet another good ol' PoL Monday post, with some news on both HC2 and HC3.
Not a whole lot to say on this, honestly. Development has been kind of slowed down by the fact that I also spent some time doing work for HC3, like searching for a new artist (literally took me a whole day, no jokes) or handing out new commissions, etc...
I tried to have the beginning of the True Ending not feel too repetitive, but there will unfortunately be some elements that were already present in previous endings being reused. If I didn't add them, the True Ending would end up not making much sense for those who haven't played the other endings first.
Currently, I'm developing a scene that will be a turning point in the ending. Since I want it to look at least a little bit good, I'm putting quite a lot of efforts into the visuals. Hopefully, it'll turn out alright : )
I guess a lot of you are curious about the new artist^^ Quite frankly, I really wanted to have a pixel artist do the portraits, so the game would feel slightly more homogeneous, with the game's visuals all being pixel art themselves.
However, after much digging on both Western and Japanese websites, I only found a handful of really good pixel artists. Turns out that I might be cursed, because none of them were available: one ignored my messages, the other didn't have the time, another had tendinitis and had stopped working on pixel art, yet another one would only take commissions for characters from a certain game universes and nothing else. The last one only worked on Skeb, which is a website that minimizes communication between artists and clients, so not suitable for a game dev that needs to communicate a lot with the artist. Anyway, I gave up, and went for a "normal" artist, which gave me a lot more choices.
The person who will be in charge of the portraits and the game banner is a Japanese artist named Dyun. Quite frankly, I have no idea if I am allowed to post links to other websites on Patreon, but you will easily find him by typing "Dyun Skeb" or "Dyun Twitter" on google. I suggest looking up Skeb.
Why did I choose this artist? Because I wanted a "manga" kind of artstyle for the characters, without it being too exaggerated and the characters having no visible nose or their eyes taking up literally half of their faces. Besides, I like how smooth his art his and how he seems to master different kind of facial expressions. This will come in handy for the portraits variations : )
Sorry for the wall of text, but I really wanted to let you guys know about my train of thought as well everything that goes on behind the scenes.
Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful week!
