Roadmap and Infos on the Rest of Henteria Chronicles: Chapter 2’s Development

Here’s the very rough roadmap of what’s to come in the following updates until the end of HC2's development.

----Keep in mind, everything might be subject to change depending on feedback, new ideas, etc…---

Roadmap:

Update 12(August): Focusing on finishing the last side quest (quest 42), adding a new reminiscence room and using all the time left for adding new freeroam events where they're needed. If I find I haven't got enough time to add as much freeroam events as I wish, I will keep adding them in following updates until I'm satisfied.

After Update 12, I'll dedicate some updates to the endings (please read below):

I want to have 4 of them in total: Bad Ending (NTR), Revenge Ending, Good Ending (Non-NTR), and True Ending. If, as mentioned in Update 11, I actually add an extra side-quest for those who have finished all side stories, then I’ll probably implement a 5th ending tied to that particular quest, more focused on side-characters (just an idea for now, nothing set in stone quite yet).

About the endings:

Here comes the more controversial part. I know some of you might not be completely pleased by that idea, but I want to work on both HC2 and HC3 at the same time once comes the time to develop the endings. The main idea would be that I’d work on the technical and visual aspects of HC3 along with the endings of HC2.

For HC3, this would mean: making the main maps, designing the characters, the combat system (with an option to turn off random encounters and to skip it entirely), the main mini-game (a variant of FF8’s Triple Triad), and the rough outline of the story. As such, you guys wouldn’t have to wait 3 months after the end of HC2 to get your hands on HC3’s demo. Sure, this would mean a bit less content per Update after Update 11, but it beats having to wait 3+ months with no content at all, right? : )

Another advantage of this : If I start HC3’s development earlier, it would give more time for the visual artists to prepare all the needed assets such as pixel sprites, portraits, some original monster drawings and more for the Triple Triad card game, voice acting for the moans, etc…to be ready for the demo.

Since I don’t know how long all of this will take, I cannot give a definite roadmap for this part. Just know that I aim for at least one ending per update, a bit more fleshed out than the ones I made for HC : Chapter 1.

Sorry this roadmap isn’t more detailed and precise. I wish I knew exactly what every update would be like, but I’d rather not make any promises. I don’t want to rush the game and make it worse than it could have been. Me and you have invested too much in that game for it to be just average, right? I hope you’ll continue to support me not necessarily with your hard-earned money, but also with your kind and encouraging messages. I’m grateful for everything : )

Thanks! : ) One (or two) things I like about pixel art is that it is relatively easy to make, which means more diversity for the scenes, and that it conveys movement a lot better than CGs do.

I actually did use gimp for the main map and all the interiors of the houses. Trust me, for the bigger stuff it can take an insane amount of time. Also, I used moon beams for some of the side maps as well. Still, I will also do parallax mapping for HC3, that's for sure, because I really enjoy doing it. However, that's only for the beginning of the game's development, because parallax mapping can not only take quite some times to get it completely right and ready to implement, but it can also make the file size of the game quite enormous.

There are several reasons: 1. Because I like to diversify the gameplay. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but I really enjoy games that have more than simple fap material. Those are the one that I always remember. I want player to have some kind of extra gameplay they could enjoy when they feel like. 2. From a developer's perspective, it's more fun that way. I like to diversify what I work on to avoid feeling bored. Simply developing sex content and dialogues can be quite tiring in the long run, so I always enjoy spending a day or two on other stuff so I can comeback to the sex part feeling refreshed. 3.Trying to get more people into the game. the more diversified the gameplay is, the more likely it might be interesting to a wider range of players, which ultimately comes back to point number 1, different people enjoy different things, so I'm trying to get a little bit of variety into the game, even if the sex content remains the focal point.

Actually, I don't want to put more focus into mini-games. The way I want to do it is replace every time-consuming mini-games with the new card game and the combat, and make both of those optional. For the combat, players will have access to really powerful equipment from the get-go if they want to, and they will be able to turn random encounters off completely. It means that there will be close to 0 combat interactions for those who don't want to go trhough it (no random encounters, bosses will be one-shotted). Card game plugin is ready to use, all it needs it a few tweaks and maybe some more card graphics. I intend on letting someone else take care of the combat aspect, at least for all the chore mechanics. All in all, I won't spend much time developing those two aspects : )

I'll be waiting for the Solana sidequest, I love her, I gonna miss her, at least until now, I love her sidquest story, I'll see how it develops from here on, thank you for creating her, I've been thinking so much about making some fan art about her and Goras! And thank you for all your hard work!

I saw you had posted a reply under another comment. If you mean being able to walk around while seeing different scenes on different days, and be able to see them again, then it's probably pretty close to what we're gonna see in some of the endings

When I say developing the ending in one go, I don't mean everything at once^^ I'll just give all my attention to the ending(s) I'm developing for a particular Update, and then only will I use the rest of my time on HC3.

Yes, I don't plan to rush any of it. That's why I aimed at at least one ending per month/update. I guess it would give me enough time to really flesh them out to my likings. Also, I thought working on both HC2 and HC3 at the same time as long as I don't focus on both stories at the same time. If it's just technical and visual aspects, it won't divert too much of my attention from HC2. Besides, I intend on developing the ending in one go, and not go back and forth between both games. thanks for the comment! : )

Yes, it does. Besides, I find it easier to work when I can alternate between more technical stuff (sprite edits, map making) and developing the story, so I guess that's for the better.

Man, there's still a long way to go for HC2! Sweet - I like how fleshed out this world feels. Absolutely start work on HC3 early if that makes things easier; I don't mind a bit less content on the front end for more content on the back end.

It’s very nice of you to do a roadmap like that. But a small off topic question: do you intend to have a sort of more open corruption before the end ? Something like the last couple of days in ntrpg 2

Starting HC3 early makes since. I'm glad you're doing it and a little surprised you're not starting earlier. One thing I'd like to see is less villain's. Just focus on one or two jackasses doing all the bullshit. Make me really hate them.
