Proof of Life #38: About future updates

Hey guys! Hey gals (I sometimes wonder if there are any girls among my Patrons but oh well, for gender equality's sake^^)!

So, in this post, I want to give a few more infos not only on development, but also on future updates.

About HC2's development

It's going well^^ A few sidequests done, working on the main storyline now.

For the H scenes, expect a little more scenes with side-characters and randoms, because we haven't quite reached the beginning of the corruption for the main characters. I still want to set up a few story elements so the whole things makes sense and doesn't feel rushed.

But don't worry, with 2 main characters and 3 side characters, once we get the NTR going, there should be plenty of sexual content : )

For the side-chars, I want to have a separate questline for each of them. All quests will have to be done in order, and they will be tied to the main storyline. So you'll have to progress with the main storyline to also progress with the side-chars' questlines, but not the other way around. That's the concept for now, we'll see if it works.

About future updates

Well, ideally, there'll be one update per month with at least one hour of playtime added (assuming you don't skip text or any of the side-quests). Playtime is just an estimate, I won't chronometer everything^^

So I want to have Update 1 ready for September 13th for Sergeant tier and above, maybe a tad bit earlier if everything goes well : )

By the way, demo version for grunt tier is still planned for tomorrow, so stay on the lookout for that! : )

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful week!

thanks for the reply man! Very nice to hear what you think about the topics I raised. And that's all I could want for going forward anyway really, that you have considered these different aspects. Can't wait for the first part of your game and stay safe! quick edit: An iteration of a similar system that I mentioned in my 2nd post is to be found in one part of NTRPG2. In the last part or something, everything is missable except for a few scenes with the main characters. That's not to say I enjoyed this system in NTRPG2 though, since all the missable scenes in that game was for characters that had very rushed introductions, so there was no emotional reaction or reason to look for every scene, to me personally.

No name tho

Now, for the missable content, the problem is for every person that wishes to have some elements of mystery, there's going to be someone else that wishes to have a slow, steady and well-explained corruption process. But I do understand what you mean. I tend to be very thorough in the way I set up the story, leaving as little as possible unexplained (unless the explanation is planned for much, much later). But I guess that some side-characters might have a more "mysterious" story, where some things are left to the imagination of the player. I could just omit some of the elements I had prepared for their backstory and have them explained briefly later. I think that could be a possibility. As for the puzzles, well, my skills with RPG Maker are somewhat limited, and coding isn't a skill I possess unfortunately, which means that the kind of puzzle I can make can be rather limited if I want to avoid spending a whole week working on it or making puzzle all of the same kind^^ I'll try my best with them and will try to think of something along the development. : )

Thanks a lot for the very detailed comments! I get what you mean with consistency in character placement. For that, I'm always kinda torn between making the tribe feel more "alive" by placing characters all over the map and changing their placement periodically, or keeping them in the same place. What I went for is that, during the day, their placement will be kind of different because, luckily, no quarantine has been placed over the village, which means characters will move around. However, as you may have already noticed, I'm keeping them in one place during the night (especially Aywin and Celis, always in their room) to keep an element of mystery if you don't find them. Maybe it's just a side-quest, maybe it's more...Hope this will work out! : )

I'll address another topic that gets discussed every once in a while as well. Having missable content. This one, I'm sure, is in the far future because it is pretty far removed from the style you currently have. That's ok, and I understand the points for not having missable content. But I wanted to bring up that you do not in fact have to introduce the viewer or MC to a gradual corruption of all characters. You have already done this with one side character in the demo! I think that is great! I personally would think it would be great if something along the same lines could be done for more characters. Where part of the mystery is figuring out how to get scene playing. If you don't get the scene playing, the consistency in the world that I discussed earlier, will let the player know he missed out on something. For example aywin, keeps missing from her bed, but the door is locked for other people's houses unless you figure out how to break in so you won't get to see any scenes before you do. The main difference here is having the main story move along, together with the changes you write in the character, without giving the player the reward of seeing what happened. It sounds like something like this will be the case from how you explain side-quests. In any case, I hope I make a case for the mystery aspect to be considered when you go about making your game. You are good at making puzzles and I would like to see it integrated more into the story to be blunt, and It makes it feel like playing the game matters more if you can have different playthroughs. Those are my quick thoughts.

No name tho

A couple of things I wanted to discuss after the demo. Loved the demo so far btw. Enjoyed every minute! Although I was stuck on the carbuncle chase for the longest time trying to figure out how it worked. Just wanted to advocate for high consistency in the game going forward. What I mean by that is specificly the characters. I remember at times in henteria chapter 1 that there would be times when you felt like a character should be a specific place, but you couldn't find them. Like that one demon that supposedly had the guestroom as his room, but he was never there in any free roam sections when I checked. Stuff like that, consistency in the world overall, I think you will agree is important. Of course that's not to say that you should have all the characters be a place for the character to check up on, but in an NTR game that can be part of the fun and mystery. That mostly works however when the player knows that the game is usually consistent about where it's characters spend their time. If some girl is missing at night, we have a hint that something might be about. But if that girl never is in her room during normal nights of the game, that will not be a hint. So consistency, I think is important in a game like this, even if the focus in the end will be on corruption or other themes you find important. That's all I had to say so far I think. The demo was pretty freaking good!

No name tho

For now, every girl will be coupled with a different guy. There might be some gangbang-ish scenes when we progress further with the corruption, but the intial plan is to have couples rather than harems, if that makesany sense^^
