what some people misunderstand about when Eleven saves Max, is that it's some crazy new power to resurrect people. The Duffer brothers added a line in the hospital from Lucas to mention that Max's heart stopped for 1 minute and then started again. Eleven basicly did remote CPR, if Lucas did CPR on her it might have had the same effect. I think they did it that way to not give Eleven too much power, because that way any death in season 5 would not hit as hard.
