The Giant Mom's Search

A shadow, cold and vast as a high-altitude cloud, fell over the city. It was not the shadow of twilight, but of a foot — a bare, mile-long foot that still had chipped gloss from her last pedicure. The giant mom, who just yesterday had been five-foot-seven, now measured her height in miles. Her sudden, impossible size only amplified her very human panic and fury. She sighed, and the sound was a tremor that registered 3.5 on the Richter scale.

Her enormous head dipped below the cloud line, her eyes, the size of craters but still squinting with mortal annoyance, scanning the grid of streets far, far below.

"Where has that boy gone and got himself into trouble again!" she boomed, the air pressure change flattening everything under the few square miles where her breath hit the ground.

She took another, clumsy, decisive step — her lack of scale experience causing her to accidentally crush the entire financial district into a fine, glittering powder. The remaining citizens, who had not yet fled, panicked, realizing that this was not a natural disaster, but a specific, monumental irritation fueled by caffeine and maternal stress.

Her voice, a force of nature itself, echoed across the continent. "Make way for the giant mom, I won't repeat myself!"

The glass and steel towers that had survived the initial steps now seemed to conspire against her. They snagged on her ankles, resisting her easy movement. Her mood darkened.

"I hate those fucking buildings! Always in my way..." she grumbled, kicking a row of condominiums that spun away like tiny dice.

The continuous walking and random destruction were not proving effective for locating her son, who was smaller than a single grain of sand on her heel. She felt her patience, already razor-thin, wearing completely out.

"I am tired of searching in this mess!"

The act of lowering her immense torso caused the remaining city blocks to shiver violently, the strained groan of her sudden, massive weight registering as a continuous earthquake. Her body eclipsed the entire sun, plunging the remaining city blocks into a perpetual, dusty gloom.

Seeing nothing, her deep frustration boiled over into an ear-splitting command that shattered every window in a ten-mile radius. "WHERE ARE YOU!"

A nearby skyscraper seemed to vibrate in fear. She impatiently reached out a finger and thumb, effortlessly plucking the hundred-story building from its foundation, thinking he might be hiding somewhere deep within.

The structure bent and snapped with less resistance than dried spaghetti. She peered at the broken pieces with genuine surprise. "Those little things break so easily."

She scanned the newly clear ground where the tower had been, then the rest of the ruined place. Nothing.

She slumped back slightly, creating a shallow valley beneath her immense weight, the weight of a frustrated mother whose body was completely out of her control. "Well, this stupid boy is not there!"

She slowly began to push herself back up, dusting off her hands. She took one last look at the ravaged landscape that had failed to yield her missing child, and a terrible realization dawned on her. This whole city was just a complicated toy box she needed to clear out.

She shrugged, a monumental gesture that created an offshore tidal wave. "Guess I can just get rid of that city then..."

Love her design, she is pretty. I also really liked the story, really added to the pic with the emphasis on how she affects the environment and city.
