I do agree actually, none of the characters in this show are morally good characters everyone is kind of morally grey or evil and I think that's meant to be part of the universe that the world is set in. I liked the writing for the most part and I'll definitely be watching season 2 but yeah just some stuff I didn't think was super necessary or really added to the story at all except for shock value. 2023-11-09 12:54:10 +0000 UTCI understand the discomfort with some of the "inappropriate" scenes in this show. It's a bit of an unconventional approach to writing so I don't blame anyone for outright just not liking those scenes. It is my opinion that the writing in Chainsaw Man does a very good job at being morally unbiased, as a very general statement. There are no moral messages it's trying to convey. In fact you can argue that none of the characters in the show are good at all. Everyone is kind of a piece of shit. Everyone is selfishly motivated, and have been shown in some capacity their willingness to step over others in order to achieve their own individual goals. From Himeno taking advantage of Denji in her drunken stupor as a quasi get-back at Aki or in revenge against Makima, to Aki turning a blind eye towards Himeno's obvious feelings for him to achieve his own goals, to Power sacrificing Denji, Kobeni trying to sacrifice Denji, etc etc. No one is really good. And there may not have been a very explicit very plot oriented reason to include certain scenes in the story, but it all works together to build up the world and characters, the good, bad, and the ugly, with no restraints. And even as I was uncomfortable during certain parts of the story, I appreciate that, personally. That's just my opinion on it though.

2023-11-09 02:02:50 +0000 UTCIt's kinda funny how all the strongest parts of the manga happen after this cutoff point. I know why they adapted it the way they did and it makes for a great arc, but dang, I hope S2 is not a decade away from now.
