It looks as though our fluffy Northern cousin and her canine Keidran compatriot are feeling quite friendly and looking for ways to share that affection. Physical touch is always fine, as long as its between consenting companions. But for Basitin bodies, touch to certain areas can hit a bit... different. And no, boys and girls, I'm not talking about THAT. (That discussion comes in Chapter 17.) Let's clear things up with a demonstration, shall we? Our lovely cold-weather couple will now demonstrate how a simple ear touch between two species can mean vastly different things. Let's watch... ... ... ... My! That was certainly... enlightening! (I hope the censorship bureau doesn't ban us for that last bit...) As you can see, our two dear demonstrators show quite a different reaction to a simple ear touch. For a strapping Keidran boy, a scritch feels fine! Certainly very good, but not altogether different than a nice pat most anywhere else. As you can see, however, the feeling for our lovely Basitin lady is a little more... complicated. As most Basitins know all too well, something as simple as an innocent graze to the ear can set off that funny feeling that's at once all too familiar and yet at the same time impossible to describe to non-Basitins. You know it when you feel it, right boys and girls? But there's a certain special vulnerability that comes with that feeling. And it's for this reason that Basitin ear touching is typically limited only to those in which one can put absolute trust. For most, that circle only includes mates and very close family. However, if you're certain you can put your absolute trust in someone, it's perfectly fine and natural to touch ears with anyone you fee- Hey! Wait, what are you doing?! Unhand me this instant! I'm only trying to teach people! You can't do this to me! I WILL NOT BE SILENCED! EAR TOUCHING IS PERFECTLY NATUR-hgmmffllgph! Ahem... Ignore the previous statement. It was unsanctioned and heretical to the Law. As every good Basitin knows, ear touching should ONLY be between close family and mated couples! If you touch ears with anyone else, you WILL get pregnant and you WILL die. And if you even THINK about touching your own ears, the fur of your palms will fall out and you'll go blind. It’s actually interesting to me how everything in the past has implied that ear scritches for basitins would simply be highly arousing, but this one falls more in line with what Maddie said about it feeling good (which can be arousing, especially under the context of it being largely reserved for lovers). Honestly, given the blush, it looks like she is getting… ahem… hot and bothered… by playing with his ears more so than the other way around.
