I suppose in this version of events while sailing back, instead of dealing with Laura's death the drama was over who Keith would choose. But then they realized there was a third option, and things just somehow managed to work out agreeably for all three. XD

2020-10-13 07:49:25 +0000 UTCdoesn't the situation portrayed naturally imply that laura's survival isn't the only point of divergence in this AU though? :P saying "what's the minimal explanation for what is presented" is still nitpicking, just turned around on building up cause rather than brushing away effect; why not turn nitpicking powers on determining why we see what we do than why we shouldn't see what we do? :D

2020-10-12 11:21:08 +0000 UTCAs feelgood as this pic is, I have to live up to my username and point out that Team B was still dealing with Carver and taking Zen hostage, which led to Natani's brief coma on the ship; Keith responded by slugging Trace in frustration and then seeking a medic(?) once on the mainland. So in this AU, how would Laura's presence have changed Keith's reaction? How would Laura have reacted to seeing Nat drop cold in the middle of sparring with Keith? Was she told about his soul-link with Zen before it happened, or did Keith have to try and explain what the problem was while trying to care for Natani? Am I overthinking this? Did I really just ask that? What day is it? Ow.

I could see this AU's Laura noticing Kat's shy interest first, thinking about it for a little while, then bringing it up with a surprised Keith and Natani... and after much discussion (during which Keith never stops blushing) they give Kathrin a gentle invitation. Keith would insist that they make it clear there will be no hard feelings if she refuses, and Laura would add that there's no pressure on Kat to make a decision right away, they understand this is a lot to think about...
