I’ll probably lead you to your… oh! You’re right. Laura: Even if you lead me in a way they could kill someone, we could practice, maybe, to the point that you lead me to safety multiple times in a row. Willow: The problem is that I’m the ghost now, not you. How about you try it. Laura: This can’t be too difficult. <i>Two Hours Later</i> Laura: Run… Er, Float Willow! Float Away! *Is running from some dangerous plants and creatures in the forest* Willow: Pretty hard not getting your friends killed when you’re a will-o-the-wisp isn’t it Laura? *Montage of a week of simulated deaths later* Willow: See why I don’t want any more living friends? Laura: Yeah… Wait! That’s it! “Living Friends” you don’t want to lead anyone because it ends in tragedy. How about I try to lead you into trouble instead of away from it, you know, lead you the opposite of what my gut tells me. Do you think that would work? Willow: You’ve given me hope, for the first time after my friend died, I feel a sense of hope instead of hopelessness. Let’s try it! *makes one last attempt, Laura doing the opposite of her intuition* Willow: The Masks Bless Us Laura! You’ve led us to safety! I’m so happy I could burst! *they start glowing* Vwoosh! *They teleport into the forest, Willow back in her lioness form* Laura: What happened? Why am I dizzy? Willow: Can ghosts get dizzy? I don’t remember getting dizzy at all. Laura! You don’t look like a ghost anymore! I think you’re alive again. *helps Laura to her feet* Yep, definitely a physical body again. Laura: If I’m alive again, do you think you can lead me back to safety now? Willow: I don’t want you to die. Laura: I’ve already died twice, sort of. What’s once more if I do it while helping a friend. Just do what I did and go with the opposite of what you’re feeling. <i>Three Days Later</i> Willow: Is that, smoke up ahead? Laura: That’s what I was thinking. Let’s peek through these branches and see. *looks through the branches with Willow* Those are foxes Willow! You’ve led me to safety, and even back home! *hugs Willow in gratitude* Willow: *drops her lantern, with her essence hovering away from her body* What’s happening?! I just suddenly got pushed out! Willow’s “shell”: Oh Willow. I’m so happy for you right now. Willow: Anaya? Is that you? Anaya: Yes. Remember how I said we’d always be friends? Willow: I do. *floats inside her lantern and to the ground, leaning against Anaya’s leg* I am so sorry for what happened to you. I… I couldn’t… Anaya: I know Willow. I’ve been with you every step of the way. I don’t know how I became your vessel, or why, but I want you to know I never blamed you for my death. It wasn’t your fault, and I will always remember what you tried to do for me. Thank you Willow. *Fades away peacefully* Willow: *sobbing* Laura: Willow, *picks up Willow’s Lantern, cradling her in her arms* …are you okay? I’m here for you. Willow: I’m just, so happy I could make peace with Anaya. I thought that I could never be forgiven, but she forgave me, and I’ve led you to safety, and… this is just, a very emotional day for me. Laura: You’re my friend Willow. Let’s go introduce ourselves and see what’s changed over the years. Willow: Okay. I’ll try to manifest a vessel for myself. Since my last vessel was born of sorrow, maybe I can use my joy to create a new one. *a new vessel floats down from the sky, in the form of a snow leopard, with silver sclerae, blue irises, and orange hair* Laura: You’re beautiful Willow. Go ahead, try your new vessel. Willow: Here goes. *enters her new vessel, which collapses to the ground* Laura: Willow! Are you hurt? *reaches to help willow to her feet* Willow: No, *looks up* but I now have a friend. *takes Laura’s hand and her lantern, and rises to her feet* let’s go meet everyone.
