I'm sorry but I have to contradict you. This is the main difference between magic and sorcery: the magicians using raw power, the sorcerers using mana from power stored in magic items (mana crystals in this case). This means that magicians are stronger when facing an unexpected trial, while the sorcerers are weaker; but if the sorcerers have time to imbue power on the item used to store mana they have access to more power. What we see here is a sign of great power for Trace, not Natani, cause with many crystal any sorcerer may pose a great challenge
