It's rather hard to think that their first encounter was him trying to kill them... but that seems to be a common theme in the comic. Characters try and fail to kill each other, then suddenly realise their common aspects, and through lots of shenanigans, become friends. This is the spirit of the comic-and a nice touch of the spirit of Christmas too.
