A deletion event in the Tas1r2 gene (247bp), one of two genes that when translated make up the heteromer receptor(T1R2/T1R3), rendered it unable to detect most of the sugar compounds that are found in food. The fat content of the cake would be of interest, but not the sugar ;-)
