And despite everything you did before you lost your memory you’re thinking about what blood there will be!?” Zen: <“Did I hear Blood? I can...”> *starts getting wobbly, noticing the labor in process* <“oh… I don’t feel so well.”> In a different wing of the estate… Natani: <“Why am I feeling woozy all of a sudden?”> Keith: <“Whats wrong? Did you eat something?”> Natani (Who was meanwhile checking on Zen): <“Zen, you big baby. Flora’s in labor and Zen decided to turn green on me. Flora’s screaming from it. Mother wolves and mother bears will protect their offspring with their lives-threatening those who try to harm them, or who may become threats in the future. In this case, Mary is the 'mother wolf', protecting Raine-who at that moment could literally be considered her 'cub'-and given what Evil Trace does to Mary at some point, I'd say it's a fitting comparison.
