2018-09-07 16:41:16 +0000 UTCEhhh... that's not entirely true. He's drawn adult-oriented pieces involving 2Kinds characters before but they weren't meant for the masses. As I recall they were intended either to be private or for friends of his, though I can't quite recall exactly as I haven't cared overmuch. If someone wants to draw adult artwork that's fine, if they don't that's also fine. Tom's published works - regardless of what has been leaked in the past - have always been PG by his own decision. That decision likely has little to do with what he believes his viewers do or don't think about sex. From what I've seen he doesn't want to be known for drawing porn.

A, with the exception of those in the fan base who aren’t “of age” yet, I have yet to see a member of the “audience” come out and say that it’s a bad thing. Yes, there have been moments where two characters could have had sex, and often chosen not to or were stopped. B, when they come along, much like a “big character” dying in assorted media, details and information are shown to confirm the event. A good example being when Reni peeked into Trace’s Mind. It showed that Trace and Flora were at least once engaged in lovemaking, but didn’t show Deadpool/Matrix levels of explicitness to keep it within the specs he set for himself, which for the record were a lot more lax in the first year or two of TwoKinds. I guess what I’m trying to say is “The majority of the ‘Audience’ doesn’t view sex as a bad thing, and Tom doesn’t do it to appease people that are younger, but because he made, on his own moral grounds, as he grew and drew from age 13, a personal choice not to do so.”

To be as concise as possible the aversion to sexual content causes what are in my opinion miserable contrivances in the story, all to appease an >audience< that thinks that sex is bad.

2018-09-07 03:23:27 +0000 UTCPlease calm down. Tom doesn’t exceed PG-13 <u>by choice</u>, not because of Patreon. He could go R/M, or NC-17/AO level like some less strict Patreon creators out there if he wanted, but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that he has stated he will never draw his characters to that extent. And I’d imagine it’s because it would reduce his audience, one he wishes to teach about tolerance towards others (the general theme of the comic if one pays attention). Not once is it stated or implied that sex is bad, multiple times it says that Keidran are generally quite promiscuous for pro-social reasons, which is lended to by Therie and Aerith’s bet, Alabaster’s “knowledge”, and even some of Flora’s worries. With Natani and Keith, they haven’t “yet” had sex due to their mutual respect and love for each other, as well as the simple fact of Natani’s desire to avoid jumping into a feminine mindset or actions (not that they would go that route, but you get what I mean, Natani’s just not ready for it yet on a personal level (neither am I, which is why I haven’t had sex either)). Long story short, through the comic, Tom has never indicated sex is bad, instead teaching it as a part of loving someone, but has not, and likely won’t ever, go visually explicit. Take what you want from what I just said, but if your frustration has stemmed from any of what I just mentioned, I hope it helps.

On the one hand, These two, more-so Iris than Aerith, are evidently hurtful, namely presenting themselves as being more authentic, towards “Domesticated Keidran”. On the other hand, I have no doubt in my mind that they could get Kathrin a hookup with a man. It should be noted that, Aerith said those two words exactly, which means that there is a decent chance they don’t intend to get her with Eric, or another human, at all, potentially nullifying the benefit Kat may seem to reap.

2018-09-07 02:15:16 +0000 UTCNo one knows anything about these characters except for the 3-4 panels in which they appeared, "oh they were mean to Flora" is entirely anecdotal and not enough to declare them as inherently evil. Even from an author's intent standpoint the most they are is a plot device to demonstrate that racism and classism is just as prominent among Keidrens not just humans, there is no telling how they would treat Kat and Kat to anyone that knows anything about the character would not turn on her friends.
