Mike was born into slavery. Evals was captured. As a dog, Evals had been raised to believe that foxes weren't to be trusted, as there's a lot of hatred between fox and dog keidran in the wild. But at this point he didn't have much else to lose. Both would later go on to be sold to Eric's father as ship hands, and later inherited by Eric himself.

2017-10-03 21:26:02 +0000 UTCEver since I read the comic that briefly mentions them knowing each other as kids, I wanted to see how that would have happened, considering the state of the TwoKinds world. I'm just thankful that people voted for it, and that Tom chose to draw it. It turned out far better than I expected. While the comedic drawings are fun, I do really appreciate the images that provide us with a window into the canon world, so I'll do my best to come up with similar suggestions in the future.

Thank you Menke for coming up with this idea I really wanted to see more of these two and this is a very sweet and beautiful image. Also thank you Tom for this gorgeous artwork! Also something about seeing Evals(being bigger and more "manly") in a weak and scared state while Mike comforts him is just so heart warming.
