As I said last weekend, one of the props of working ahead of the deadline (and going into this with a full script already done) is being able to add foreshadowing to early pages and that's exactly what I did here, you might recall all the way back in page 2 Walter and Suarez had a little discussion about lace-up jockstraps. THAT WAS SETUP FOR THIS, BABY!
There's this thing Chuck Jones did with his Looney Tunes shorts (especially the coyote and road-runner cartoons) which was having a set of rules for the characters that maintain consistency while having enough leeway to be flexible and creative. Such as, the road-runner cannot harm the coyote, he's always harmed by his own ineptitude, there will be no dialogue, all tools must be obtained from Acme, etc. I like to have this rule with Suarez, where he can win, he can lose, but he can't be humiliated. You can outsmart him but he's still walking out with his dignity intact.
