Guayaquil Conference Rule 34

I'll apologize in advance because this is probably not the content most of you are subbed for, I just got the idea for this and had to get it out of my system.

... So this is rule 34 of historical figures José de San Martín and Simón Bolívar. They both led the revolutionary effort to liberate almost every part of South America that isn't Brazil from the Spanish monarchy (Argentina, Chile and Peru; and Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Panama and Ecuador respectively), not flawless as most historical figures are but still fondly remembered overall. If any of you play Civ 6, you might remember Bolívar as the OP asshole with the busted movement ability.

One of my favorite historical factoids is that the two met up in Ecuador towards the end of the revolutionary effort to discuss how to proceed, and even though their goals alligned and both respected each other, they didn't really come to an agreement on how to govern the newly liberated republics. But Bolívar did give San Martín a big fucking portrait of himself as a memento, which I think is absolutely hilarious.

My impression from all this was that Bolívar had a really big ego, but I figured, you know, my sources might be biased, considering most of the South American history books I read were written by Argies. So a while ago I asked my husband (who is Venezuelan) to see how much that lines up with what he was taught. And to my surprise, he confirmed that's just the way things were apparently, bro just thought really highly of himself.

And that makes for a pretty funny dynamic in my head so I decided to draw them as secret lovers. They're also a capybara and opossum. I'm so very sorry.

Sidenote if anyone speaks spanish: I tried to approximate the dialect to what was spoken in Venezuela in the 1800s, they still used voseo at the time (and a weird variant of it is still used in the state of Zulia today, even).
