patreon

Shutting down soon

You read that right. Sorry folks, I'll be closing my patreon indefinitely at the end of April.

I am very happy to say that I'm doing it for the best of reasons, which is that I'm doing great and don't need the money. See, I opened this patreon as a contingency during the pandemic. Argentina was going to shit and a lot of companies started pulling out of the country, and I was afraid my employer would follow suit. I had just moved out of my parents', scared shitless about the lease I had just signed, and having anxiety attacks.
I expected to get just a little bit of extra income in a more stable currency as a safety net to ease my anxiety, but the support kept coming and coming. The peace of mind allowed me to focus on my career and get a better paying day job, and the USD income helped improve my living situation. So many amazing things happened to me over the last three years because I had the financial security to take those risks. Words cannot express my gratitude for your support, it legitimately changed my life.

Unfortunately, my new day job is way more demanding than the previous one, and mantaining the patreon schedule over the last year or so has become incredibly difficult for me. I had little free time before, but now I have next to none. All I've done the past year is work and draw. Even without doing commissions (and, I'm ashamed to admit, cutting corners here and there), it's not enough.
I kept it going until things got stable, and I'm finally at a point where I don't need to keep killing myself working two jobs. I'm good. I don't want to look back on my late 20s, maybe early 30s, as just an endless grind for something that might lose its value to inflation or some shit.

I do love what I do, it still warms my heart when people tell me the stuff I draw cheers them up, or makes them feel more comfortable with who they are, or just gets a laugh out of them, so I will continue doing it for the sake of it. Just at a pace that is healthier for me.
I will wrap up the current set of strips (for the people that did the math and noticed April has only 3 Saturdays to go, yes, I'll be posting two strips one week to get part 10 out before the month ends), and the last two drawpolls will be the usual runner-up stuff I do around September, picking the second most voted options throughout the last year. After that I'll take a break, do some work on Minotaur Hotel, and then keep making stuff. Or fuck it, judging by the last time I attempted to take a break, I might just draw some shit for fun right away.
So make sure you follow my Twitter (and FA or Itaku, considering what a shitshow Twitter has been the last months) to see that.

The one sad note I want to end this on is that Argentina, sadly, has not stopped going to shit. It has, in fact, gone way past shit a couple times over, and is apparently still going just to see how far down it can go. So I would appreciate it a lot if you guys could consider taking the money you would have given me and continue to support Argentine creators on this platform.
I'll link a handful down here, but one I want to highlight is Roddorod and his visual novel Nerus. Roddo is an immensely talented guy, Nerus is great, you guys should read it and consider supporting it here on patreon.

TLDR: I'm doing great but I need better work-life balance so I'm closing the patreon after this month, but I'll keep drawing, just at a slower pace.
Sorry for the wall of text. I hope you guys enjoy the last month of content, and as always, a huge thank you for your support.

Always gonna treasure my commission from you!

Thank you for the years of content! I'm so happy you're in a more stable place in your life. It's been a pleasure offering what support I could on your journey! I look forward to seeing whatever you put out in the future as you grow as an artist. I've also taken some of your recommendations and supported a few other artists.

Chapomon

Your stuff is excellent, and I will miss the frequency, but but I'm glad you're doing well. Good fortune, friend.

BerraBear

Thanks for taking us all along for the fun rides with Boomer and Miles, Suarez and Walter and all the rest of your story cast. I was extremely happy to snag a commission when it became available and absolutely love it. Good luck with the next chapter in your life!

Draziel

It's great to hear you're getting back into reading VNs! I hope you enjoy our work!

Salman Eyes

Hi Chellay, thanks for the kind words and support. I'm glad to have helped you get started making your own stuff. Since I'll have more free time soon I'll get back to reading vns regularly (which I haven't really done much lately because I've been too exhausted to read) , so I'll definitely check you and Nemo's work out soon!

Nanoff Yorbisnitz

I wanted to write this post towards the start of the month to give people a heads up earlier but I figured people would think it was an April fool's joke lol. Thanks for the kind words

Nanoff Yorbisnitz

I was really hoping this was a delayed April Fools prank. Damn, Man. I haven’t even been following you a whole year (i think) but I was SO glad when I found you because I was just coming off of following a different furry comic artist who I was feeling really let down by and your work was a breath of fresh air in comparison. In all seriousness though I am so happy your financial situation has improved to this point. It’s got to be a weight off not having to worry about that as much. I guess I’ll just have to follow the other places but I’m sure gonna miss your frequency. Can I hug you? 🫂

Zeke Red

Work and health should always come first. I'm glad I got to be a patreon of your while you were still making this comic. I'm excited to see how you end this part.

Hey, Chellay here. (This is my patron account, you can just ask me somewhere else if it really is mine in case you need confirmation) I already said something on Twitter, but I just wanted to say that it has been really emotional seeing things come to an end. You were the one that got me into making VNs in the first place. Boomer's Big Date showed me that there could be engaging, sexy, and unique gay stories that featured hot old, beefy old men and were actually relatable to non-fem gay men. Without it, I wouldn't have discovered Minotaur Hotel and how great that VN was, and I would have never been motivated to create my own stories. I know it's been really hard for you this past year, and I'm glad to see that you've pulled through. I'm happy that you don't need Patreon anymore. I said I didn't want this to be sappy but it's hard not to. Again, I wish the best for you and I'm looking forward to whatever you have in store in the future.

Salman Eyes

I can't imagine a better reason to see your Patreon close. I'm looking forward to seeing your art on other platforms, on your own terms, as you focus on living your happiest life. Congratulations, dude!

Sharkey

I love your work and will make sure to fallow you on Twitter. I am sad to see you go especially because another of the patreons I fallow is also sunseting at the end of April. I wish you the best.

crossoverfan12

Sad to see you go. I love your comics and all your art. You are very talented and I always look forward to seeing your comics. But I am glad your work is going well and hope it keeps going well. I will miss your comics though and I am glad I was able to be a part of your Patreon while it was around. Good luck! ❤️

Jonathan Wynter

Bittersweet farewell to your patreon. But it was fun to see your work as you went. I’m glad you were able to find something more stable for yourself. And congrats on the new job. I wish you the best as well as seeing your future works. Owo It was a struggle and you made it through. I hope the best for you and other creators in Argentina. 0o0

FrostTiger

I am glad you have fought and won the opportunity to retire from Patreon forever. It was nice to see your works a week early and heck getting some commission requests along the way. Its been fun but yeah, I know it must have been tiresome to do your regular job, Minotaur Hotel, and balance this Patreon. Take care and yes I will look forward to seeing you post occasionally to these accounts.

Rodrigo

All three platforms linked!

Nanoff Yorbisnitz

I'm very glad that things are going well for you, but very sad that I won't get to see your comics on a regular basis. Where will you be posting moving forward?

Xyverz

Congrats! Im happy you'll still be doing comics, they always make my week :)

Cixah

I'm so glad to be part of your journey and so happy to know you're doing well. You're an inspiration to all comic creators.

Wujaja

Congratulations! It is great to hear that you have reached a point of stability! You are right - you should take the time to enjoy what you have accomplished and not live only to work. All the best!

Petrov Neutrino

I appreciate how frank and honest this is. Best of luck with the new career!

Aaron

Love your work and all you do! Wish you the best in everything!

TwinScales

Glad to have supported you. Also, thank you and best of luck in your future endeavors. 😉

Ben Waldburger

Lmao you got lucky, I think I stopped doing commissions a couple of months after. Yours was a lot of fun!

Nanoff Yorbisnitz

Congrats and thank you! So excited to have gotten the chance to get a commission from you!

Raidat

Been a pleasure supporting your work and will follow you on twitter. You made a great set of strips and comics especially with Boomer and Miles. Hope to keep seeing more of them through twitter.

MightyG

I am really happy for you that you accomplished so much, and thanks a lot for the great times. Take care!!!

We all need a break to breathe sometime, we don't wanna overwork you

Max Freeman

Congrats, man! I’m glad your in a better place, and I’ll just add to the people saying that your comics have brightened my days during these rough times. I love Boomer and Miles, and have loved seeing their story. Wishing for more good in the future for you

Best of luck dude

Zilch Woofs

I’m gonna be honest, I always look forward to your comics every weekend, it’s always a nice thing for me to wake up to every Saturday morning / afternoon. But I understand that you got more important stuff that you got to keep up with. We always be around if you ever want to start your Patreon back up, and if not, we still be around to follow you on after sites ^^. Good luck out there.

King Grump

Thanks for sharing your wonderful art. I'm glad you shared other artists on here to support. I hope your new job is going well.

LDM

Glad to hear things are going well! Hope they continue getting better for you, Nanoff!

Hal Aigissia

Thank you for keeping us in the loop, Nanoff. Your art has brought me so many chuckles and it is also, well, hot 😅 so I’ll miss the regular Patreon updates. That being said, I wish you the best in this next chapter of your life. Always remember that you have many supporters who are grateful for your contributions to the fandom! ❤️

Esker Wolfpaw

Your stuff is amazing and totally worth the support! Glad you’re keeping up with the comics, but a slower pace is good. Here’s to a good future for you buddy 🍻

Bohnahnah

I'm sad to hear it, but glad your situation has improved to the point that you don't need a Patreon anymore! I've been a fan for awhile, and will continue to be. Take care!

Rookieblue

Hey man, that’s completely understandable, work and free time should come before anything else. Hopefully you’ll be able to come back in the future
