2022-01-01 19:58:30 +0000 UTCIn my experience if you're using the equipment wrong, a PT will come over and tell you. Same if you're technically doing what you're supposed to but with poor form, which can lead to not getting the most out of the exercise, or forming bad habits, or at worst injuring yourself. If it's your first time and don't know where to start they'll also usually give you a routine and show you around the floor telling you how the machines work.

2021-12-26 15:26:42 +0000 UTCIt depends on the gym. Some have more active employees that monitor the floor for people not using the equipment safely. Most places though want to charge extra to have someone help you like a personal trainer though I would hope if anyone needed a spotter they'd just do it while they were out on the floor. At least it's was like that when I went to LA Fitness in the mind 2000's. Places like Planet Fitness seem like they might be more engaging with the people at their gyms but I haven't been.

Compound lifts was technobabble to me (this is doubling as minor education to me, much like Kyell Gold's Out of Position books and football), but I remembered the spotter thing from high school gym class.
