You might also try a different platform entirely. You have a PlayStation 4 or 5 or perhaps one of the XBoxes? You could watch it on Crunchyroll's or VRV's dedicated app on one of those platforms and capture the footage with your PC. I watch my favorite anime on VRV's PS4 app including Slime and One Piece and never had that annoying square show up. I'll have to check it on the PS4's crunchyroll app to be sure, but sometimes what you need is just a change in perspective.

The crunchyroll square issue is only on chrome so that might be a fix if you are ok with using a different browser. Turning on hardware acceleration on chrome sometimes also fixes things but that might make additional issues
