Welcome back. Glad you're feeling much better! The page in Gale's book where he wrote the "To W.W" bit also featured a drawing of Walt Whitman. I think it suggests more that he idolised Walt Whitman which makes sense seeing as he brought up the poem to Walt & then recited it completely. Hank's never been one to sympathise with those in the world of drugs & crime. In S2E1 he posed for a photo with Gonzo's body with a severed arm ahaha. To him, he sees Gale purely as a weirdo criminal chemist in the meth trade. He doesn't have the context of his character & death like we do. Did love your point about the guy talking about being concerned about radio frequencies etc when he's literally sitting in a drug den 😂 I'm sure the writers found that a funny image too. I feel like the lab didn't have cameras before because if their footage is ever found that could be pretty damning evidence. So it's a balance of risks. Gus has obviously decided now that their behaviour is more of a risk. I think Walt was clocking that they were using the cameras to follow Jesse specifically which made him realise they were concerned about him. I think their plan about the money is that even though Skyler told Marie Walt's gambling was done in illegal backroom games where you don't pay taxes on winnings, they said to Hank & the Govt that the money was earned legally. The idea is that the money Walt made from the gambling was just enough to buy the carwash, but they don't have a lot of money on hand to spend on $300 champagne lol.
