If he loves these early episodes wait until all the buildup story and lore hits at once in the later arcs. His mind is going to be blown, I cant wait he is going to love Black clover

While watching black clover you might notice that the animation or just quality of episodes drops a lot here and there. It's a weekly anime and the animation studio has only a limited amount of time and ressources but when u get to climaxes and big fights u will notice that they give it all. I mean u will later see the same thing happen in One Piece too so best u try not to bother as much it's just how it is. Black clover is still good.

You should just do Petit Clover (the shorts after the ending) when they happen. They happen after most episodes from this point for a while. Most of them are at least relevant to what's happening in that particular episode.

It went into hiatus instead of making fillers. Black Clover have evolved and do things like other shonans nowadays. More seasons like based instead of every week

It really sucks that the show had to go on hiatus after episode 170 I cant wait until it returns. I can assure you it only gets better. and yes Asta doesnt have any magic powers. His grimoire and sword arent powered by magic. Saying anymore would be spoilers tho

Yeah so Asta doesn't have magic, the sword is what comes out of his grimoire. It's part of the lure and lure of his five leaf clover grimoire. Just have to keep watching haha. So hype you're doing this now! I'm ready!!
