One Piece Episode 352-354 REACTION

One of the reasons to never watch the 4kids dub - they cut out Laboon. Completely. If they'd kept on with the show, they would have got to this point and it would have made NO SENSE! Oda set that shit up early - like he does with a lot of things. Imagine being the editor for 4kids and realising how badly you'd fucked the One Piece anime when this chapter came out.

That wouldn't be true because this is how the episode was in the original Japanese. The recap is here because there was over seven years between the episodes. People who were watching it as it aired in Japan might have needed a recap for Laboon because of the long time between episodes.

He didn't always fully know all the Strawhats. For example, Zoro's design was originally drawn as one of Buggy's crew members. Oda switched him to being the Zoro we know after this. Also, there are some early sketches of the crew which didn't have the current designs of Franky or Chopper (if they were even there) but it did have a skeleton. So at least Brook was always planned to be in the crew.

While Thriller Bark isn't perfect, and has a couple issues here and there, I've always loved it as well. I've always felt it's gotten an unfair negative reputation. And it's kinda for the same reasons you seem to like it. I grew up with Scooby Doo. I grew up with many cartoons having that "Halloween" episode, or some kind of darker more horror-themed episode (i.e. Jack & The Haunted House from Samurai Jack or Abracadaver from Powerpuff Girls). I've always loved the concept of injecting a horror themed episode or arc into a series not normally centering on it, especially when done well. And I feel Thriller Bark is done well. It's fun, cartoony & silly, but also has legit heart & excitement. It feels natural to the world of One Piece that Oda created while also giving us something we've never seen in the episodes prior. The Laboon reveal alone is one of the best reasons to love this arc, but there's so much more that came before & comes yet in the future. Just keep forming your own thoughts on the show & it's arcs. Don't let anyone's perceptions of it cloud your own. Enjoy the adventure, and find excitement in the unknown yet to come.

ABOUT the histoy of OP. Oda has had the ending since he started, but he planned for the story to be aprox 5 years “long” (he has been bad at calculating that since forever, every few years he says how long it remains but turns out to be false, lol), I believe he's had the core moments since the beggining but the reason the story kept expanding up until now is because he never stops having ideas to include. So for a fact he has had the ending since way before day one but the story is a whole lot of core points and their derivated ideas that makes the universe feel whole and real.

LOVED this reaction! I lost it when you mentioned Laboon in passing—so priceless! One of the reasons why there might have been so much recap here is because the 4kids version of One Piece actually got rid of Laboon and replaced him with an iceberg (Nope, I’m not even kidding, you can look it up -_-). So for people who only started with 4kids and never rewatched from the beginning, the recap was to bring them up to speed.

On the part about Oar's reputation as a continental puller and "How do you beat that", I'm not sure it's ever directly mentioned but I do believe that a body with its own shadow can be vastly stronger than its body + someone else's shadow. For example, Oar's was probably stronger when he was alive, and Ryuma aswell.

Also about “does Oda have the entire story planned out?” From interviews of his editors and himself, he seems to have always planned all of the Straw Hats and the ending of the story. Over the course of the last 23 years, he’s added in a lot of content which has made the story this long (like the Warlords, and more I can’t tell you). So yes, he’s always had some core concepts in place, like the Straw Hats, the Emperor system, Devil Fruits, and the story’s ending always planned. Which means he probably had most of the Straw Hat backstories planned :)

Best reaction ever! lol Yes that's the best thing about One Piece that I didn't find anywhere else is the story! I think it ruined other mangas for me :( Oda knows how to tie up everything together! No loose ends whatsoever! I personally never found a manga that does that! AOT mangaka is great at foreshadowing too but when you see that OP events are decades apart, it doesn't even compare! Oda said in an interview that he already knows the story and the end! He wanted to finish OP in 5 years but he was enjoying drawing it so much he decided to add little things along the way till it reached the 23-year masterpiece that we're watching now! :) That's why I trust he'll deliver a phenomenal ending! You mentioned Naruto Shippuden and DBZ but both of them don't have a story as complicated as OP, especially DBZ! Kishimoto (Naruto's mangaka) dropped the ball on many many plot lines that I hated the ending! It's on par with GOT ending for me! Finally, people hate on Thriller Bark because it's sandwiched between 2 awesome arcs! However, you still got some surprises in this arc ;)

As for Oda knowing everything he was going to do, he had a rough idea on everything he wanted to do, but originally he wasn't going to get more than 100-200 chapters, at best. When One Piece tipped the scales for most popular manga series, they told him he could flesh out the story for as long as he wanted to. This is the result. Complete epicness for world building.

About the question of hair on dead people: It depends on the environment you die in. As long as the skin is still intact and the body is in an environment with good humidity and low exposure to wind, insects and animals, then technically, the hair can stay preserved for thousands of years. Bodies that are found in swamps or mummified like the egyptians have their hair intact. But if the body reaches a point of being pure skeleton with no skin, then no, the hair doesn't stay. The hair is not drilled into your skull.

Thriller Bark wasnt my favorite, but I am glad that you like it. It does have one of my favorite fight scenes though. And you gotta give it points for the backstory too. Also, I have seen some behind the scene videos of Voice Actors, and they do act out the scenes in real life too. Gotta get into the mind set lol. Laboon Forshadowing Brook is one of my favorite Moments of forshaowing in all of One Piece. If you go back to the reverse moutain episodes in the comments you'll see a lot Of Yohohoho comments & jokes, those are Brook refences.
