iOS + Patreon Fees

To those who used iOS to subscribe to my patreon.
Apple has implemented new rules that apply when you subscribe to any patreon through the iOS app. This means that you will be charged 30% more on your subsciptions if you signed up using the iOS app. It also means, that I won't be able to access any of the pledges made through the iOS app for 75 days.
To prevent this and make sure you are not overcharged, the best way to sign up/resubscribe is through a web browser of your choice instead of the iOS app. Simply go to the Patreon website in your browser, log into your account and subscribe from there!
If done through the iOS App, you will be charged a 30% fee as per Apple Store ToS.

It's just tied to the subscription so if you pay using iOS then you get a fee e.g. apple pay - I have done it myself accidentally in the past because its so easy and accesible but to save the extra charge avoid using iOS and go on the patreon website :)

2025-05-02 15:36:00 +0000 UTCI'm an android user, but man...that is complete bullshit. Sucks for those who signed up via iOS. :( I'm assuming tho it's just the sign up and not continued use of the app past the original sign up?
