I think Mirian still hasn't taken the opportunity to properly investigate what the labyrinth is made of. Specifically, going to the site of a leyline eruption, and studying the destroyed internals of the labyrinth. Maybe it's because the subject is just too complex for her to study, like how she isn't capable of learning anything from the elder gates or the infrastructure on the moon. Or it just isn't relevant to the current subject. Or maybe it's too dangerous to set up a proper research site, with the labyrinth going crazy, and all the chaotic energies in the area.

It kind of explains why Mayat Shadr explodes at the end of the loop, even if they stabilize the leylines there. The system is at balance, just like how the planet is kept balanced between the force of gravity trying to compress it and internal pressure trying to make it fly apart. At Mayat Shadr, when the Ominian's entropic field collapses, the balance is broken, and there is no longer a counterbalance to the force of the leylines there. And so they erupt.

2026-02-04 04:38:51 +0000 UTCHm... their reunion was on the 212th loop, shortly after she discovered the Mahatan Gate. They went to the Jiandzhi on the 241st loop, and that's when loops started being close to 6 months. Made Equinox on loop 252, when loops became actually 6 months. Now loop 308... so that is... a bit under 40 years in total? Give or take. I am not counting exact numbers of days. Keeping in mind that years have 13 months here (and start on Fourthday for some reason, despite being evenly divisible into weeks). Still, kind of crazy that of the 55-60 years stuck in the loop, she's been with her dad for over half already. It feels so recent in comparison.

Also, vault at the bottom of the dungeon must have some extreme stuff. That’s the kind of area you don’t reach without extensive understanding basically never developed on Enteria until now.

Like Jei, he understands the implications of the time loop and is willing to sacrifice his life if needed (even faster than Jei, actually - he just has to see the temporal anchor). He's also really old so it is unlikely Mirian will out-age him any time soon, and even then, at that age it doesn't really matter anymore. He is emotionally savvy enough to know the loops are weighing on her and to know how to support her through it. They've been apart for so long that the sudden reunions don't get more painful as quickly as time goes on (unlike with, say, Lily). He's also not a potential romantic partner on account of being her dad, which makes the loop stuff less complicated. And of course he has a delightfully complicated history, being an enemy of the state and all. I just hope he isn't just hiding his pain too much about missing out on all their memories. He deserves some good feelings too.

2026-02-02 01:11:56 +0000 UTCThey think the spikes work off of time elapsed, not the number of cycles. So if a prophet spent 40 years looping, their spike will return in the modern day after 40 years of looping. Regardless of how many cycles passed during that prophets' time, or in modern times.
