Chapter 280 - Renewal

Comments

This one has been bothering me: “Bind it to you“ I think it could just be “Bind it” and you can remove 2 words

Thanks for the chapter! I'm indeed very glad we got here... I mean I'm sure it has been clear in many of my... "less calm comments" lol. But I was waiting for this... not even just finally the Ibrahim resolution entirely... But the general shift. Thank you. Thank you for writing such an amazing story, that both had me all but cry out in frustration over WHY MIRIAN IS SLIPPING DOWN THAT PATH!!!! Yet also understand perfectly well HOW it happened... Now we can finally see the kind of emotional resolution the prophets NEED to have for Mirians power to actually help her in a POSITIVE way... The power to reshape time over the entire known world with 7 (or 8 depending on if Scebur was indeed made up and not suddenly WAS actually real lol), active anchors and shapers... In such a world such a scenario... The power to WIN ANY "war" by "destroying the enemy" is not POSITIVE. But by itself a "negative use of the Power" because there exists after all the one possibilty where war was stopped and peace obtained. Oh man I love this! And I'm kind of kicking myself now that the past few of all days I had enough shit to do that I only got to read this beautiful chapter now! Honestly step one: Summon the council of Prophets and the Council of Granpas (Irabi and other rare souls like him) and in no uncertain terms inform the first one, that from now on the second Council's decrees must be the end goal lol... Archieved by Mirian as the LITERAL embodiment of "Mutually Assured Destruction"... But no hopefully she does have the sense to go diplomatically not forcibly to the other Prophets (I expect Mirian will), she did have her revelation now after all.

The Unmoored made it clear that being there was not allowed by the Pact, and that he would enforce the Pact if she would try to visit again.

Wouter v. Dam

Huh, so current generation loopers anchors aren't protected by causality on luamin. Does this mean she can kill a looper (via any means) then fly to the moon and manually remove them from the loop? Loopers may have to fear death once again.

Dino

Beautiful chapter, so nostalgic and peaceful and heartbreaking and heartwarming. Every single week, every single chapter, I’m always looking forward to see your work and never ever left disappointing. The level of care and effort and thought you’ve placed in building this story, and in chapters like these, is one-of-one. Love the story and the journey and Mirian and everyone she’s interacted with and encountered. Truly one of the best sagas I’ve read

Well, she doesn't have a spell-staff yet...

That awkward moment when you're someone's second first crush and they've had many other first crushes since then.

Love is strong. But love and being a human nuke is stronger.

It’s all about the friends you made, and lost, then made again along the way

Mirian finally trying to solve problems through the power of love... in addition to her incalculable Myr rating she found

Even just a few hours to talk with her could be a massive help for him. And they could always decide to limit contact, if they ever end up feeling that it would be necessary to preserve the relationship. And besides that, understanding and novelty aren't strictly necessary for a relationship. Even if all he gets is her emotional support and a person he can always trust and be intimate with, it might not matter that she never grows. Not ideal, but perhaps still enough.

Michael Vonica

The tsundere who was Mirian's dueling rival and secretly liked her?

oikla

Who was Platus again?

Armo

Mirian is getting very close to actually talking with Platus. And I still think he has some alchemical secrets to reveal for us. Then again, Platus has never come to Mirian, in any of the many loops where she has openly revealed herself as a prophet, and spent plenty of time in Torrviol. He could just be actively avoiding her, because he wants all the credit for his 'discovery'. Her only chance might be to come to him, and try to understand him.

Michael Vonica

Time to create an art piece out of the spinal cords of her biggest enemies and bind it with relicarium. Wouldn't that be a fun medical mystery for baracuel's and akana's top doctors?

Robert Mullins

No, that anchor returned to the Ominian.

Michael Vonica

This chapter was really good, and the idea of using relicarium as instant sabotage is inspired

Griffus

and now Ibrahim’s wife-rage isn’t a chekhovs gun pointed at her, very good. I still think he’s going to struggle with a relationship that can’t advance while he and mirian will get closer as the years pass, I don’t think they’ll end up together at the end tho.

That's the thing though, you wouldn't bind messages to other people's souls. You would bond the material you removed to carve a message into something near where that person starts the loop, to your soul. So when you go back in time, your soul pulls the "negative" of the message with your soul, leaving the carved message. Imagine a non looper finding their wall suddenly have an etched message in it with no dust or evidence the message was carved with mundane tools.

SirReality

Hang on, with the anchors on Luamin, I wonder if it’s possible to return Troytin to the timeloop.

Armo

Great to see this new path. To see Mirian reconnect and start healing. To start to trust others again, even if in small doses. I can't wait to see how this will develop.

Enthernal

This is exactly what I was hoping to see, hopefully these meetings are semi-regular if not something that happens every loop. That was a great chapter which does a good job of making me feel hopeful.

Too bad that whats-his-face's temporal anchor isn't one of the ones collecting on the moon. Then again, it's been made clear she's not supposed to return to it, so it would've been just as unreachable as it is now.

steamrick

I also forget who Valen was... 😅

Clara

Let he who hath not destroyed a city in rage cast the first stone.

Robert Mullins

Sometimes you gotta destroy a city or two to remember your humanity

Pandalf

I'm intrigued by her thoughts on use of relicarium. I wonder if she is thinking about fixing people's small material concerns in a way that will stick, or leaving messages for people at the start of the loop. If you carved out a message in rock, then soulbound the removed material, you would have an instant message wherever you wanted that would persist across loops. Depending on how precise you were, you could do a lot of messages for a little relicarium.

SirReality

That last Idea, is one hell of a game changer

Xabotx

It's really nice to see mirian engaging with people again. And finally telling Ibrahim how to save his wife.

Kresimir

It's nice seeing her claw back some human connection with those she has left in her wake
