suddenly i want an au where Nocts the spare

i imagined Nocts brother just getting taken out in a battle and Noct get an express trip to the throne

having been in his shadow

What if

Prom had been betrothed to the brother

and its like it shifts to Noctis when brother dies

Prom maybe already had a connection to the brother

so its like 'wow im tentatively heartbroken but have to marry his brother?? what soap is this??'

Noctis doesnt trust Prom 

Maybe even wonders if the death of his brother was premature and was supposed to happen AFTER the wedding

because theyre so pushy with the betrothal just passing on

Noct alread had an arranged marriage because he can still be a useful political pawn

even as the spare

Noct would probably hire investigators

His brothers death was just a very unfortunate misstep on his part

i keep imagining Noct accusing Prompto of all his thoughts and Prom being like '........youre right'

'that was my purpose but I was doing everything I could to stop it. I didnt love your brother yet but I cared for him deeply'

Noctis' brother was an easy target because he was very open in his interest in Prompto and that particular alliance

Prompto having someone vying for his attention was a very new feeling so it was easy to be flattered and attracted to it.

I imagine in the long run Prompto and Noctis' brother wouldnt have been compatible but on a surface level it was going well.

I want to draw for this later!
