Hello. I've been working on improving my encoding methods lately, and I've made a simple dance video to show you all the results (also new bikini👙). I've switched the video codec for the archived video from H.264 to H.265, which has improved the quality. You can choose between 2160p and 1440p resolutions. To play H.265, you'll need a media player that supports it. I've put a list of supported players in the archive, so please check it out if you have any playback issues.

Getting a bit technical, the HQ version doesn't just use a codec with superior compression, it also preserve the original color (RGB) without compression. While RGB is quite a redundant format and thus impacts the file size, it can retain the intermediate colors at edge boundaries much more cleanly compared to the compressed colors of the LQ version (YUV). Although I've labeled it as the LQ version, it's encoded using the same updated method as the HQ version. As a result, it has a smaller file size and better quality than before. For those who prioritize versatility over fine details in quality, I recommend saving the LQ version.

I've decided to use YUV instead of RGB for the HQ version as well. By revising the method, I can now achieve gradients with YUV that are comparable to RGB. This has reduced the file size of the HQ version by about 40%.

こんにちは。最近、エンコード方法の改善に取り組んでおり、その結果をお見せするために簡単なダンス動画を作成しました（新しいビキニも）。アーカイブ動画のビデオコーデックをH.264からH.265に変更し、品質が向上しました。2160pと1440pの解像度から選択できます。H.265を再生するには、それをサポートするメディアプレーヤーが必要です。サポートされているプレーヤーのリストをアーカイブに入れましたので、再生に問題がある場合はそちらをご確認ください。

ここでは少し技術的な説明になりますが、高画質(HQ)版は単に優れた圧縮コーデックを使用しているだけでなく、オリジナルの色(RGB)を圧縮せずに保持しています。RGB形式は冗長性が高く、ファイルサイズに影響を与えますが、低画質版の圧縮された色(YUV)と比較すると、エッジの境界における中間色をより鮮明に保持します。なお、低品質版と定義しましたが、これは高品質版と同じアップデートされた方式でエンコードされているため、以前よりもファイルサイズが小さく、品質も向上しています。画質の細かな部分よりも汎用性を重視する方には、この低品質版での保存をお勧めします。

HQ版でもRGBではなくYUVを使うことにしました。方式を見直したことで、YUVでもRGBと遜色ないグラデーションが実現できるようになりました。これによりHQ版のファイルサイズが約40%削減されます。
