Arcane Season 2 Episode 3 Reaction Edited

Is there any way for Jinx and Vi to come back from this? 😂 This episode was quite overwhelming with the chaos it contained, a bunch of people have gone poof, Caitlyn has gone full-blown Enforcer, and I just don't know what to do with myself now 🫠

Thank goodness I’m not alone in my thoughts on this guy! It’s the fact that we know so little about him that makes him so terrifying and it feels like he’s being built up to do something big! 😬

Btw, I definitely share some of your feelings regarding Singed, esp at that point in time. Don't worry, you'll get your answers.

This was such an amazing way to introduce more magic into the show! I love the visuals of the Black Rose magic with its red thorny galaxies, and it makes me so curious as to what other magic types look like. Love that this was even hinted at so well right in the intro and it makes me wonder what all of that means now, Ambessa crushes it, hands grab Mel and replace her in Ambessa’s place with a new Rose. Also it’s so cool to see how Ambessa’s already found a way to fight against it with anti-magic runes! Caitlyn’s decent is so sad to see and the Grey just emphasises it perfectly! The one good thing her family did for the Undercity and she’s now using it against them as a weapon. She’s so far gone into the hate that she’s even willing to fire when a child is down her scopes; she’s becoming the perfect piece of clay for Ambessa to mould. Her desire for revenge on Jinx has caused such an insane amount of harm on the Undercity and what’s worse is that she doesn’t even realise it, it’s all a means to an end. This fight scene felt legendary! The music coupled with it so well and made the whole thing feel so surreal while also adding an insane amount of chaos with Hextech bugging out thanks to whatever Jayce was doing. I hadn’t even thought about what Viktor would have experience during this, it basically looked like reality was glitching so his situation must have been awful, and now I’m so scared of whatever Jayce saw, he only just decided to make Hextech weapons and now has seen something to make him want to destroy it all without hesitation! Singed is such a great name for the Doctor, he’s whole thing is about mystery and while ‘Doctor’ conveys that well it still holds connotations that you can make inferences with. However Singed is fully only describing his physical appearance, which was a result of an accident, there’s nothing about him personally that can be drawn from it which creates such an enigma! Even his origin city is kept fairly unknown which I find fascinating in this tale where everyone is defined by what side their on except, he’s completely on his own side. YES! Love Loris now!! It was so awesome to see him walk away from this waking nightmare, he knows things are just getting completely out of hand and wants nothing to do with it! I figured this wolf must have been something important and it’s also nuts that the Doctor of all people was able to hunt it down when it’s considered a ‘Great’ version of itself. Cool that the kid’s design has references to another character, makes me wonder if that’ll lead to anything. Oh I now love this Janna lore, it explains the blast of wind that came out of the wall and I really like that Zaun has it’s own mythology in this way and that it was even incorporate into the music through chanting, almost like she came in to save Jinx, Sevika and the kid (Undercity People).

Another great episode and a first proper touch with magic other than Hextech. There are a plenty of different forms of magic in the lore and what we saw here, the dark thorny magic, is the trademark of the Black Rose. To most with even surface understanding of the game's lore, seeing Ambessa with the black rose in her hand in the intro immediately answered who or what she's up against. As powerful as this magic was already displayed to be, teleportation and restraining foes from range, we already witnessed a countermeasure: Rictus, Ambessa's bodyguard, had anti-magic runes around his weapon which allowed him to dispel the thorns. Now, the use of the Grey. That's an interesting subject: On one hand, Caitlyn is using her family's possibly only good deed toward the Undercity, as a weapon against them. On the other hand, she's using it to hunt for Jinx in the streets of Zaun as an alternative to an all out war. Granted, her pursuit of Jinx lead to a situation where war might now be unavoidable. Caitlyn's willingness to take a shot even with Vi and the kid on the way shows how far into hatred she has fallen, which is something Ambessa wont hesitate to build on. We got another very different yet so great fight scene, further muddled by the hextech weaponry acting up due to Jayce's actions elsewhere. It's interesting that even at a distance, the hextech weapons reacted so strongly. I wonder if Viktor had a reaction to that since his body appears to be mostly hextech now. As for why Jayce whacked the thing: He clearly saw something disturbing upon touching it ("What have we done?") and finally made an attempt to destroy it. Indeed, the Doctor is known in the game as Singed although I don't recall that "name" ever being said in this series. It's more of a description of what he is: someone singed by a chemical explosion, namely the hextech/shimmer explosion in season 1 episode 3. We don't actually know if he is from the Undercity but we do know he worked with Heimerdinger in the past so if he is from the Undercity he is quite similar to Viktor in that sense. Then to the easter eggs! But first a shoutout to Loris, Vi's street drinker pal and a short time enforcer, a man who saw a tyranny being formed and wanted nothing to do with it. As if this episode didn't have enough easter eggs in itself I'll shine light to a couple I forgot to mention from the last two episodes: - The two headed wolf-thing the Doctor hunted is a Murk Wolf, a type of monster in the jungle area of the game's map. A Greater Murk Wolf, to be exact, due to it having two heads. - The kid hanging with Jinx wears a Teemo helmet, the helmet worn by Teemo, the champion featured in Marcus' kid's book in season 1. - Janna, who Vander apparently told Powder and Vi bedtime stories about, is a mysterious wind spirit in the lore. The place they fight at in the sewers appears to possibly be a sort of shrine for her, with the giant statue of her on the wall Sevika later blew up. The chanting in the song that plays during the fight is a Shuriman (an ancient fallen empire far south) prayer to her.
