Chapter 150

The battle erupted across the ancient ruins like wildfire spreading through dry timber.

Cobra moved with serpentine grace, poison magic coiling around his arms like living things. His purple hair whipped as he dodged Gray's ice spears, a cruel smirk playing at his lips. "Your ice is slow, pathetic! I can hear your every thought before you even move!"

"Then hear this!" Gray snarled, slamming his fist into his palm. "Ice Make: Geyser!"

The ground beneath Cobra erupted in a massive spike of ice, but the poison dragon slayer had already twisted away, his enhanced hearing giving him supernatural reflexes.

"Too predictable," Cobra taunted, acid dripping from his fingers. "Sound Magic: Poison Dragon's Roar!"

A wave of toxic purple energy screamed toward Gray, the sound itself carrying venom. Gray barely managed to throw up an ice shield, but the poison ate through it like paper. He rolled aside, coughing as the fumes stung his lungs.

Across the battlefield, Lucy found herself facing down Angel's corrupted celestial spirits. The dark mage's smile was beautiful and terrifying in equal measure.

"How adorable," Angel purred, watching Lucy fumble with her keys. "A little girl playing with spirits she doesn't understand."

"I understand plenty!" Lucy shot back, holding up a golden key. "Open, Gate of the Water Bearer! Aquarius!"

The mermaid spirit materialized in a torrent of water, her expression already annoyed. "This better be important, brat—" She paused, sensing the corrupted spirits. "What the hell are those?"

"Dark celestial spirits," Angel said sweetly. "My lovely Gemini, show them what real power looks like."

The corrupted twin spirits merged and transformed, taking on Aquarius's form but with pitch-black water swirling around them. The two water spirits clashed, their torrents colliding in explosive sprays.

"This is impossible!" Lucy gasped. "Celestial spirits can't be corrupted!"

"Oh, my dear," Angel laughed, the sound like breaking glass. "Everything can be corrupted with enough darkness. Even your precious keys."

Meanwhile, Natsu faced off against Hoteye, the ground beneath his feet constantly shifting from solid to liquid and back again.

"Money! Money! Everything is about money!" Hoteye raved, his eyes gleaming with manic greed. "Earth Magic: Liquefaction!"

The stone floor turned to mud, trying to swallow Natsu whole. But the dragon slayer was already airborne, flames propelling him upward.

"You talk too much!" Natsu roared, fire building in his lungs. "Fire Dragon's Roar!"

A torrent of flames engulfed Hoteye, but when the fire cleared, the large man stood unharmed behind a wall of solidified earth.

"Oh yes! Your fire is worth money too! I'll take it all!" Hoteye's magic spread outward, the very walls of the ruins beginning to flow like water.

"What's wrong with this guy?" Natsu muttered, dodging another wave of liquid stone.

"He's insane," Charmeleon chirped from nearby, launching its own Flamethrower to support its trainer.

Erza found herself locked in combat with Racer, the speedster moving so fast he left afterimages. Her swords rang out as she parried strikes from multiple angles, barely keeping up despite her incredible reflexes.

"Too slow, too slow!" Racer taunted, his voice coming from everywhere at once. "You call yourself Titania? You're just a little girl with too many toys!"

"Then let me show you a different toy," Erza growled. "Requip: Flight Armor!"

Her armor shifted to the lighter, speed-focused set, and suddenly she was matching Racer's pace. Their clash became a blur of motion, sword meeting fist at velocities that made the air crack.

"Better!" Racer admitted, genuinely impressed. "But still not fast enough!"

He accelerated further, and Erza found herself struggling again. This wasn't just enhanced speed—there was something else at work here.

Ultear battled against Midnight's illusions, her time magic creating ripples of temporal distortion. Reality bent and twisted around them as their magics clashed.

"Interesting," Midnight drawled, not even bothering to fully open his eyes. "Time magic against my Reflector Magic. But you're fighting ghosts, girl. Nothing you see is real."

"Then I'll make it real," Ultear shot back, her hands glowing with power. "Arc of Time: Restore!"

She reversed the time on the illusions themselves, unraveling them back to their point of creation. For a moment, Midnight's eyes actually opened fully in surprise.

"Clever. But can you restore this?" Midnight's magic surged, and suddenly Ultear was seeing visions of her past—her mother abandoning her, the experiments, the pain—

"No!" Ultear screamed, clutching her head. Her Kirlia cried out in alarm, trying to help but unable to penetrate the psychic assault.

At the center of the chaos, Brain watched with calculating eyes while Jura Neekis approached him with measured steps.

"Your subordinates are skilled," Jura acknowledged, earth magic making the ground tremble with each footfall. "But this ends now."

"Does it?" Brain asked mildly. "Tell me, Wizard Saint—do you know what Nirvana truly is? What it was designed to do?"

"Change light to darkness and darkness to light," Jura replied. "An abomination that should never be activated."

"Such a limited view." Brain shook his head sadly. "Nirvana is redemption. It's the chance to save those lost to darkness by bringing them to the light. And to punish the self-righteous by showing them true darkness."

"Pretty words don't change the reality," Jura said firmly. "You're planning to use it as a weapon."

"I'm planning to use it to remake the world," Brain corrected. "Starting with your precious legal guilds. Imagine—Fairy Tail, Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale, all turned to darkness. All serving the Oración Seis. Your own magic turned against everything you've sworn to protect."

"That won't happen," Jura declared, magic power radiating from his form. "Iron Rock Wall!"

Massive stone barriers erupted around Brain, trying to trap him, but the dark guild master simply raised his staff.

"Dark Capriccio."

A beam of darkness pierced through Jura's rocks like they were made of paper, forcing the Wizard Saint to dodge. The beam carved a trench through the ruins, demonstrating devastating power.

"You're strong, Jura Neekis. But strength alone won't stop what's already in motion." Brain gestured to the magical circle on the floor, which had begun glowing during the battle. "Nirvana stirs. Can you feel it?"

The entire ruin shuddered, dust falling from the cracked ceiling. The magical circle pulsed brighter, and a presence—ancient and vast—seemed to wake beneath their feet.

"No," Jura's eyes widened. "The seal—"

"Was already weakened when we arrived," Brain finished. "All this fighting, all this magical energy being thrown around—you're helping me break it. Every spell cast, every attack launched, feeds Nirvana's awakening."

"Stop fighting!" Jura roared to the others. "Everyone cease combat immediately!"

But it was too late. The damage was done.

The floor began to crack, light pouring through the fissures. Not ordinary light, but something that shifted between pure white and absolute black, constantly changing, never settling.

"What's happening?" Lucy cried out, stumbling as the ground shook violently.

"Nirvana awakens," Brain announced triumphantly. "And with it, a new age begins!"

The magical circle exploded with light, forcing everyone to shield their eyes. When they could see again, a massive pillar of shifting light had erupted from the center of the ruins, stretching up into the sky.

And within that light, something massive was rising.

"Is that... a city?" Wendy gasped from where she'd been trying to heal Gray's poison exposure.

It was indeed a city—an ancient structure of impossible architecture, buildings that defied geometry, streets that looped back on themselves. The entire thing balanced on massive legs, like some titan of stone and magic.

"Nirvana's true form," Brain said with satisfaction. "A walking city. A mobile fortress. A weapon that can travel anywhere, transform anyone. Beautiful, isn't it?"

"It's an abomination," Erza spat, struggling to her feet despite her exhaustion from fighting Racer.

"It's perfection." Brain began walking toward the pillar of light. "And now, it's mine. Oración Seis—we're leaving. Our work here is done."

"Like hell!" Natsu charged forward, flames blazing, but Hoteye's earth magic created a wall between them.

"No no no! The money must be protected! The city of money!"

The other Oración Seis members began disengaging, moving toward their leader with practiced coordination.

"We can't let them escape!" Gray shouted, forming ice lances.

"Gray, no!" Jura commanded. "Any more magical energy and we risk—"

The ground beneath them cracked completely, and massive sections of the ruins began to fall away. The awakening of Nirvana had destabilized everything.

"The whole place is coming down!" Eve shouted in alarm.

"Everyone out! Now!" Jura's voice boomed with authority. "Retreat to the airship!"

"But the Oración Seis—" Natsu protested.

"Will be dealt with later," Jura said firmly. "Our priority is survival. Move!"

The task force began a fighting retreat, dodging falling stones and collapsing architecture. The Oración Seis had already vanished into the pillar of light, presumably boarding the walking city itself.

"This isn't over," Erza vowed as they ran, supporting a poisoned Gray. "We'll stop them."

"First we need to regroup," Jura said grimly. "Hibiki, can you contact the Council?"

"Already trying," Hibiki replied, his Archive magic flickering. "But something's interfering. Nirvana's magical field is blocking communications."

They burst out of the collapsing ruins just as Avalon's engines roared to life. NIMO had detected the danger and prepped for immediate departure.

"Everyone aboard!" Erza ordered.

They scrambled up the ramp, Lucy half-carrying an exhausted Wendy, Ultear still shaking from Midnight's mental assault. As soon as the last person was aboard, the airship lifted off.

Behind them, the ruins collapsed entirely, swallowed by a massive sinkhole. And from that hole, Nirvana continued to rise—a city of impossibilities, legs like towers beginning to move, taking its first steps in centuries.

"Master Aiden needs to know," Erza said quietly, watching the ancient weapon through the windows. "We failed."

"We survived," Jura corrected firmly. "That's not failure. That's living to fight another day."

"But Nirvana—"

"Is active, yes. But not yet fully operational. We have time. Not much, but some." Jura's expression was grave but not defeated. "This battle is lost. The war continues."

In the distance, Nirvana took another step, the sound echoing across the landscape like thunder.

And somewhere in Magnolia, a communication crystal finally connected, ready to deliver news that would change everything.

The Oración Seis had won the first round.

But Fairy Tail's wizards weren't known for giving up.

The real fight was just beginning.
