Personal update: post surgery!

Hey peeps! Just wanted to update you on how things are going. Sorry if the formatting is shoddy, I'm posting from my phone. 😝  Just a personal, behind the scenes post here!

On Monday I had my top surgery (mastectomy) with Dr. Wolter in Düsseldorf. It was a double incision (do you still call it that when the cuts connected in the middle?? Haha I didn't have much space to leave a gap) with nipple grafts as my chest was rather big. He removed almost 2 kilograms of tissue!
I had to stay in bed for all of Monday (except to use the toilet ofc) but on Tuesday I was allowed to get up and walk around as much as I liked. I will have to stay at the hospital until Saturday!

I've spent almost half my life wishing for this procedure to be done so it is a huge relief. I'm a bit sore at the moment but not really in pain. It's a mixture between my chest feeling numb and like my chest muscles ache, kind of? So most of Tuesday I sat around and worked on two pages of Frantic Live, with an IV needle still in my left hand, but I only notice that when I bend it a certain way - drawing has been fine.

My room is shared with another transmasc patient, and we're just having a chill, quiet time on our devices. No complaints from me. Also the room has two mini fridges, two TVs and free wifi, so I feel like a king. 😂✌️
Surgeon visits us once a day, friendly nurses check in all the time. I can say the care we get here is excellent.

For those wondering, my surgery has been paid in full by insurance, which I am able to pay thanks to you - my artist's social insurance currently bills me 100€ a month and is likely to increase in February since it always does (lol)! So thank you for making this possible!!

I had to pay 75€ for my hotel the night before surgery (it was too far from home since I had to show up at 7am), 50€ for a covid test, will pay 10€ per night at the hotel and 20€ total for two compression binders to wear for 6 weeks. I've been lucky to be able to save up money with commissions and patreon this year so I'm just giving you a run down for transparency. 😎
