Game of Thrones 8x3 FULL Reaction!

Game of Thrones 8x3 FULL Reaction!

Comments

The episode on it's own was actually very good, Most of the complaints stem from the build-up of the white walkers as THEE single greatest looming threat of the entire series. Viewers feel mislead by the sudden conclusion of the white walker plot without paying off a litany of cryptic hints planted all throughout the life of the show. Had you been part of the fandom, especially in-between seasons, while the show was on air you would've seen just how deep theory crafting could get. It probably helped that you watched the series tightly together rather than spaced apart like we did.

If Varys had died fighting in the crypts I think it would have helped the show a bit though.

This is my favorite individual episode of fantasy/adventure genre TV I've ever watched in my life. They actually had me believing that all my favorite characters were going to die. The sense of desperation that was built in my mind... the whisper of wind reminded me of Arya, and then the pay-off! Oh my goodness. Also, good point Cass: The fact that there were red wedding type episodes throughout the series made this possible. I don't remember thinking about that the first time I watched this episode. Fantastic reaction!

I’m pretty sure the writers didn’t know what to do with bran other than having him find out about Jon’s true parentage. I don’t think they knew what to do with him for this episode so they had him warg the majority of the episode which seemed to frustrate a lot of fans. Yes in essence the whole night king storyline was just thrown out the window and almost no reference to him from her on out

Sean Carroll

Yes like you said this episode was incredibly made by almost everyone that worked on it, unfortuantely it was the writing that let it down a little. Probably in my top 20 episode in the show but it could have been right up there at the top with better writing

Sean Carroll

Theon was easily the saddest death for me in the show as I really came to care about his story and the hardship he went through. To finally have someone forgive him and call him a good person was the perfect end to his character arc

Sean Carroll

Am I correct in thinking Bran can’t see the future? Because his lack of doing anything in this episode was the thing that bothered me most. All this hype about him being the three eyed raven and the NK is out to destroy him ended with little payoff and no reasoning behind it.

I absolutely LOVED this reaction. I've seen a lot of GoT reactions, but this is right up there with Nikki & Steven's reaction to Jon's stabbing or the R+L=J review. I love it when a fictional story can get people so engaged that they bawl their eyes out or have a mental breakdown. I've said it before, but we reactor-watchers are evil. It's so nice of you that you are submitting your friend to this too now! I agree with you that Theon's death hits hard. Easily the best story arc of all. For the most part I really like this episode, with some reservations. The battle tactics sucked, but they had to to amp up the tension. Not a good thing. I absolutely hate the retconning of the "brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes" line because a) it's an attempt to make the writers look smart when in reality they didn't know Arya would take out the Night King at that point, and b) because this show absolutely flubbed most of the prophecy of the story (Prince(ss) That Was Promised, anyone?) but then invents one of its own that doesn't really make a lot of sense for the character. I don't mind Arya killing him, but don't make it look like she was meant to be. And yes, the plot armor some of these people are wearing is insane. That said, in general I dig this episode as a piece of intense entertainment set in a world that I love, featuring characters that I love. It is no longer A Song of Ice and Fire, and a thing of its own, and that is fine. Up to this point, besides a few reservations here and there, mostly dealing with character undevelopment and pacing, it's a fun ride, even if it has become Hollywood blockbuster film making now. And now the descent into darkness begins...

I'm OK with the series up to this point. Yeah it's not perfect. I'm fine with Arya killing the NK and it was pretty cool and dramatic they way it happened, but Jon should have at least fought the NK. I think we would have had that moment if they hadn't cut the show down to a measly 6 episodes at this point. Otherwise I think this is a great episode. Unfortunately, IMO most of what happens from here on is complete garbage.

This episode made Cass swear TWICE, Cass I would recommend a shot of vodka before the next episodes, this was the most intense episode for you even more intense than the red wedding.

When Theon died I think my heart actually shattered, along with my Theonsa dreams. He is definitely one of my favourite characters and his character development is easily the best (only rivalled by Jaime and Sansa who coincidentally happen to be two of my other favourites, with Sansa taking the top spot).

Lily Wakefield

Personally, I really enjoy this episode and it's actually one of my favourites in the entire show (controversial I know). Sure it has it's faults, which I can recognise, but overall most things they got spot on; the fight scenes, the deaths, the dialogue (even if there wasn't much) etc. Sure it could be a bit predictable at times and I do find myself screaming at the screen but if the writers want to play into that to keep me tense as a viewer, I'm fine with that. I'm watching for entertainment and as long as I'm enjoying myself I don't mind if it's a little cliche or ridiculous

After seeing your reactions to 8x01 and 8x02, I can already tell you'll probably like the whole season. I, and a lot of people i discussed GoT with at the time, were very disappointed with those first two episodes. Look at this way, season 7 ends with the night king on a dragon taking down the wall and coming towards Winterfell. And then we get 8x01, a "comic relief/character bonding/goodbyes" episode. Fine. Great. 8x02 is then the exact same thing, just with weird shit like Arya having a sex scene, that literally no one asked for? They took 1/3 of the final season for character bonding and comic relief, when theres 4546 loose ends still left to tie up?????????? That's my biggest issues with it. They gave us literally 3 episodes after using a cop out with the night king to resolve the King's Landing stuff, as well as every other storyline in the show? Just so we could watch Arya have sex and Tormund make giant milk jokes?

i thought the lighting looked great! raise up a glass for Theon tonight, the hero we deserve! i thought this episode was great the original airing and 95% of S8 is really good, it's just that 5% that gives you the - wtf??? face.

Al Baughman

This reaction was epic

Exactly

Please consider reacting to the last watch documentary after episode 6. 🙂

Derek Gigi

You liked it and that’s all that matters

Derek Gigi

Some people just can't resist pissing in other people's cereal. For all of the haters, why don't you just go away and let the people who actually enjoyed the show enjoy it? And that includes Cass.

Andrés

Man I felt so bad for you the whole episode, but I kept screaming "just wait Cass!!!!!" I can't wait for you to read the books and get more Theon :)

Jenna

The difference was that the writing went severely downhill in the last three episodes and most of it makes absolutely zero sense. The premise is similar to previous game of thrones but it is done so much more poorly

Sean Carroll

I hate to say it but you really don’t have a clue do you, you must be sarcastic, the last three were what ruined the show for me, but yes looking forward to seeing what cass thinks of it. Please give some examples as to why this episode is one of the best, I would love to hear it

Sean Carroll

Great reaction Cass! I’m so glad you reacted to this episode just the way I did!😊 For those of you complaining about how anticlimactic this episode was: Did you expect GoT presenting us an ending that’s foreseable for more than 3 episodes ahead? Leading up to an ending that everyone loved and expected? Did they ever do that? Sure it will be even more 'anticlimactic' the last three episodes. Sure they will continue crushing storylines and destroying character arcs. That’s what GoT always did, that’s why it’s impossible to predict anything and that’s why we all love Game of Thrones! They have always been shocking us, frustrating us, annoying us, upsetting us, bringing us to tears and even mental breakdowns! You can’t make television any better! The only difference now is: Everything is coming much closer together and this time IT’S FINAL!

Same here my friend. The last moments of this episode where what pretty much ruined the entire show for me. I could deal with the horrible battle tactics and crazy plot armor, but I just cannot come to terms with how Jon Snow's entire character arc was flushed down the drain with one cheap knife trick. His entire story revolved around fighting the army of the dead, and then his little sister flies in out of nowhere, and ends the entire war for the dawn ( a storyline that she had absolutely nothing to do with for pretty much the entirety of the show) in the most anticlimactic way possible. The white walker storyline should have been endgame, not the squabble for the throne. I always hoped that the very last episode would end with Jon saving humanity by killing the night king in an epic duel, even if he has to die in the process, but alas, we don't always get what we want.

Mango Maniac

I loved that Melisandre was VIP of the episode. Lit the swords, lit the trench coming in clutch, then being the reason Arya goes after the Night King, and finally, having the decency to die to save Davos the trouble lol. Also that song! So good Ramin Djiwadi (sp?) is amazing. And icing on the cake for me was a dragon fight. Totally lived up for me.

Jai Nelson

Hello, are you a patron of TheTrophyMuncher?

Krystal

Let those whingers cry because ot didnt go the way they wanted it. This Episode was amazing and the last 3 are the best of the entire show.

DrückebergerTV

This is the first time I have watched anything synced. I have the show on DVD, so it was playing on the flat screen while the reaction was playing on the computer. It was interesting to me that I actually had to pull my focus away from the show to 'check-in' with Cass through the whole episode.

I think you might be overthinking the whole bran thing. He can’t actually see the future, he just sees glimpses of it. He didn’t know who would die in the battle he just knew that Arya had a hand in the outcome. Even if any of his family members died he would be completely emotionless because he is no longer really bran. He didn’t care that Theon died because he doesn’t feel emotions anymore, he knew that Theon needed to hear the word “you’re a good man, thank you” because that would make Theon content that the starks have forgiven him for what he did to their family and home, it would also give Theon the courage to stand up to the night king

Sean Carroll

I am a veteran so it is difficult not to watch this battle without seeing all the convenient escapes. I get the call back to Arya defeating the Night King with the same move she pulled on Breanne, however I would have liked it more if they gave more time to her being in peril during the confrontation. As it was, it just ended too easily with the Night King being no real threat after all.

That was truly wonderful cass you sure went through it emotionlly bless you :) its why we love you so much you care probably more than any reactor ive seen thats for sure , just amazing what more can i say we adore you . just three episodes to go now it will be sad when its over but what a journey its been

Ian

Personally I am one of the people who absolutely hate that Arya was the one to kill the night king. This episode for me was fine up until that point. When Arya won the battle I felt kind of empty as I was always under the impression that the final battle would be Jon snow vs the night king which was what was hyped up ever since their first meeting at hardhome. I also felt that the night king died way too anticlimactically. The battle was beautifully done but yes no where near enough people died. The plot armour that Jaime Brienne, Samwell, Podrick, gendry, tormund and the hound had was too much for me and I felt that the stakes were not there. Overall this episode would have been one of if my favourites if the plot armour wasn’t there and we got at least one fight with Jon and the night king. Also the night king should have just flown to the godswood and burned bran alive but the writers couldn’t have that happen. I would rank this battle last of all the battles in the show.

Sean Carroll

OMG what a reaction Cass xox Lighting is OK. so since you like destiny driven stuff, just think about how Bran gave that dagger to Arya :) and about Maisie's reaction to killing the NK; “I immediately thought that everybody would hate it; that Arya doesn’t deserve it,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It has to be intelligently done because otherwise people are like, ‘Well, [the villain] couldn’t have been that bad when some 100-pound girl comes in and stabs him.'” Williams said she came around after filming Arya’s important epiphany scene with Melisandre.

Krystal

Theon became my fav after this episode

Theon Greyjoy, the best redemption arc in game of thrones. Also wish it was Jon who killed the night king

Sean Carroll

I was waiting for your reaction to this episode and to those that were lost in battle. I knew it would be very emotional for you. 😢
