Tim is apologizing for being cranky; he has a canker sore that's really bothering him, and asks shadow how bad it looks. She chides him, because it's his own fault for drinking the hot chocolate while it was still scalding. The only solution now is the dreaded salt water rinse.

It will be a major error and Shadow will recall it, even forty years in the future, whenever they argue (& ALL couples argue).
