April 2022 Status Update

Hello Everyone!

We're back from our month long break in March.  During this time there has been many new things the kiddo is experiencing and becoming much more mobile as the days go on.  Work is back to the usual business that I am used to so hobbies are starting to become more of a yearning as I work through my day job.

During the month of March I got little to no artwork done aside from a few sketches and doodles so I need to take a little bit of time here warming up again to provide the quality I'd be comfortable putting into the game again.

There may be a little delay here while I work on that but hopefully will be posting sketches/doodles/gestures of things that I can get done while working up towards Game Art again.  Please bear with me while I get back on that art train again and hopefully hit a steady pace again moving forward.

I delayed this post by a day since I didn't want any April Fools confusion going on, so excuse the somewhat extended radio silence.

In addition to this; however, I also needs to address something that has come up a few times over the break.  The topic of "burnout":  

I've been working on Mira Co Rescue ever since around October of 2018 with actually posting the game on itchio on December 17, 2018.  Since then we've put out a few milestone builds, taken at least one long extended break due to a wedding, and had various ups and downs through development.

Mira Co Rescue will always be a fun hobby project that I enjoy working on; however, it isn't exactly a full time job that I in some ways should feel obligated to constantly be working on.  With the kiddo now essentially being a second full time job (I'd be joking if it didn't feel like this) it is harder for me to find time to work on the game which has in turn taken a bit of frustration compared to what we used to be capable of.

The Collective Mothership may have been a bigger undertaking than I initially anticipated and the gaps between milestone builds have only grown over the years:

-Initial Release: December 17, 2018

-2.0 Build: April 11, 2019

-3.0 Build: September 21, 2019

-4.0 Build: April 1, 2020

-5.0 (WIP) Build: August 15, 2021

It has been over a year since the last milestone update/new zone so progress has certainly slowed a bit.  I want the Collective Mothership to be in a completed state before moving on to other areas and avoid the WIP situation that the Khrono Tomb had when the game first launched.  Though, one of the struggles is content burn out since we've been doing Alien Goop/Sci-Fi related content for a year now.  

This art restoration arc we're currently in may require a bit of content outside of what the game currently has in store amongst other side art projects I had in the works.  Per usual, I understand if people would like to pause their pledges until the game project is back on track and appreciate all the support people have given me throughout all of this journey.
