John Denver "Take Me Home, Country Roads" Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,

and welcome back to Swiftlessons for another by request song tutorial. In today's session I'm breaking down a fairly beginner friendly song in John Denver's 1971 classic "Take Me Home, Country Roads." I'll take you through the chord progressions and strumming patterns for the verse, chorus and bridge sections. Let's get started!

noticed holy roller appears to be a local band and play at clubs i like. RVA! have them tracked on "bands in town" and will definitely check them out if i can when they play again. thanks for the tip.

Great lesson

Mate, this is great, please do some more JD songs, like Annie's Song, and Sunshine on my shoulder..

Sweet shirt!

I really like this rendition and tutorial, however, I find it troubling to hear it is "beginner friendly" and it proves otherwise. Now Rob's "Stand by Me" with the guitar slap is definitely one that I would consider beginner.

This tube seemed manageable, but that F#m chord requires patience. Thank you for keeping it real.

Really nicely done lesson! Would the "G" chord be considered 'burrowed'?

Thanks! I always thought this song would be more complicated, but the strumming pattern does all the work. Now I just have to get it down so I can play it.

Bob Perry

You always do a great job.
