In today’s session I’m joined by vocalist Stefany Mazor for a complete demonstration and breakdown of “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. This lesson will guide you through the fingerstyle technique for the intro, verse, bridge and chorus sections. Let’s get started!

I sing in a choir that uses the Nashville system and agree it would be great to have your explanation as well.

2019-04-09 22:23:55 +0000 UTCHey Luisa, hope you’re doing well and enjoying your practice. Singing while playing is tough for everyone, myself included. The number of repetitions needed in order to sing comfortably is very high, so your husband has a point. Drill those riffs till your blue in the face, eventually you’ll be able to hold a convo while playing it, that’s when you know you REALLY got it down. From there, set aside a half hour a day to practice singing and playing your scales, and be sure to sing along with music as you drive around, that’s an excellent way to get some extra practice time. When I sing along, I focus on matching the time, pitch and attitude of a given track. Many times I can’t accomplish this, but don’t let that discourage you.
