Circe was a goddess, enchantress, sorceress. A nymph. She was known for transforming her enemies into animals. My favourite story is in the Odyssey when she turns a boat full of cat-calling sailors into swine.
When I got divorced and my bedroom became my own, my first purchase was a large print of my favourite Circe painting; tits out, smiling, surrounded by beasts. It’s absolutely the vibe I want to wake up to every morning, a witch who makes her own reality.
