A Happy Update
Added 2024-06-25 20:31:19 +0000 UTCSophie and Grumpy were released over a week ago in a safe(r) area with more trees and less people. The plan was to continue supporting them after they were released, but they have been thriving on their own.
I was really worried for a second when we first open their cage, the world suddenly seemed so scary… but in no time they scaled the fence, and then the telephone pole, and then they climbed wayyyyyy up high in the trees to play and nap. It brought tears to my eyes watching their instincts kick in as they climbed up and hid in the leaves.
They’ve been spotted several times since, napping in the branches, wrestling in the grass at night, always steering clear of people and dogs. (Good babies!) They haven’t been coming back to their release site for food so they must be doing well on their own. (Sophie was *excellent* at hunting worms and grubs.)
So far so good out there! Hope your summer is starting off just as well. ❤️
