You wouldn’t know they were suffering with those cute grins.
Have you ever had a clothespin on your tongue? It’s a very specifically uncomfortable feeling. The tongue is a muscle, and it’s unaccustomed to this kind of thing. (Especially if someone tugs on it, you’d feel that muscle strained the next day.)
The ouch increases when the clothespin is removed. Like any area that gets pinched it feels sore when the blood rushes back to that spot, a heightened sensitivity all of a sudden. If you use wooden clothespins it hurts even more, the wetness from your tongue makes the wood expand and somehow grip, when it’s released it feels like it doesn’t want to let go. Yowch.
