Betty, Sage and Madeleine - SSP#8
Friday nights are so relaxed. I don’t have any jobs, there’s no agenda or events. We catch up, we’re real, we smoke and laugh and play and cheers and cry and holler and cum and support each other. This candid moment between Madeleine and her long-time girlfriend Sage melted my heart.
We were having a conversation about hair maintenance, self-care and wellness. “I’ve been feeling depressed so it’s been hard to brush my hair,” Sage confessed. Several of us nodded, a few chimed in with suggestions. Without another word Madeleine got her hairbrush from her bag and quietly started the job of getting out the tangles and brushing out Sage’s hair.
The group’s conversation continued to evolve, long-hair problems, hair bondage, bondage in general, breakups. Through all of this Madeline was patiently sectioning Sage’s hair and sweetly doting on her. “Why don’t you text me every time you brush it at home?” I overheard her suggest. “Then I’ll tell you what a good job you did, and it’ll remind me to brush my hair too,” Madeleine continued quietly.
Sage nodded, and leaned back against her, helpfully holding the now-smooth detangled pieces to one side. Madeleine worked away, “I can’t wait to get your text, my hair will get a boost from all the extra brushing too.” I smiled at the service and camaraderie and support in this. The love in this. The devotion and sisterhood in this. The romance and beauty in this. Tenderness and compassion.
