10 Good Things

1. The cold snap has given us a small reprieve. Huzzah to air that doesn’t hurt your face! 🥶☀️

2. I have kept up my personal goal of getting better about dental care for THREE YEARS NOW!!! I’m sensory sensitive and I get mega anxious about the dentist, so this is a big deal. AND!!! I had no cavities. 🙌🙌🙌😁 (I have needle phobia and needles in the mouth are the WORST OF ALL NEEDLES!!! So this is a HUGE DEAL! And helps to reinforce that if I go as scheduled it’s not so bad. 🙇🏻‍♀️) (Also dentists are super expensive, so yay for not needing extra work!)

3. The kids are back at school after two months of lockdown and I worked FOR HOURS yesterday on some new writing, uninterrupted!!! It was glorious. 🥰

4. My new project is a super fun little passion project I can’t get out of my head. Its a gay little ghost story and I’m in love with it so far. 👻

5. I challenged myself to get out of the creative rut I’ve been in by choosing a creative project to complete just for fun. Something where I let my heart guide and do it on my own scale and terms. I thought it would take a few months for me to make it happen but a week later here I am. 🐥💕

6. Part way through the writing process the story let me know it needed to be a comic. 😳 That’s never happened before. The story kept coming to me visually, so at first I thought it should be a script. But then I realized it was a comic. A simple one, mostly blues and purples.

7. I’m not a visual artist, but Mars is, and she said she’d love to try illustrating it. I’m thrilled about collaborating, and the whole little story came together yesterday on my first writing day back. ☺️ It felt so good.

8. I’m going to be making it into a little ‘zine and sharing it with you guys here when it’s done. 😽

9. Guy New York and I spent Monday texting about a really exciting party concept he came up with. It’s like dirty texting, but about kink and nuances and details and logistics. Right up my alley. 😇 It was a thrill to spend time daydreaming about a party idea... he’s going to be sharing more on his Patreon, and I’ll be writing about it here too. It’s teacher/student themed, which you know holds a special place in my heart.

10. I have some personal time at Joie’s empty apartment this afternoon while the kids are spending time with their dad. My plan is to order from my favourite take out place, work on my ghost story some more, and then curl up with a joint and read. If I could have told myself a year ago that things would be so good now I’d never have believed it. ✨🌹
