Added 2021-02-08 20:06:07 +0000 UTCShe always offers to paint my nails for me. I finally let her. I set out the little bottles so she could choose a colour (even though I knew she’d choose blue).
She was so careful and tender with me, taking her job seriously and relishing the chance to treat me like a princess. We’d spent the morning in bed, she’s my valiant prince. I love seeing how happy it makes her to make me feel good.
Last week was tough on me, chronic pain and some emotional duress, I was relieved when she crawled into my bed after her night shift. The sun was just starting to rise and her arms were around me, her nose still cold from the winter air. Having her close helps.
She tends to me like I tend to my garden, or the tiny baby bunnies I foster for the local shelter; with devotion. She makes sure I’m comfortable. I whisper about our bodies and art and inspiration for a ‘zine project I’m working on. She asks questions and makes sure I have everything I need.
It’s nice to be loved this way.
