1. Guess who took the kids to the cabin this weekend ALONE??? Me!!! The 3 hour drive with chronic pain and ptsd, I killed it. Chopping wood and keeping the fire going all weekend, I nailed it. Parenting and adventuring off the grid with no electricity or running water, I crushed it. Hot cocoa over the wood stove included! I’m so proud of myself, and proud of the kiddos for pitching in so much and having good attitudes. I’m going to print and frame the photo I took of them curled up reading by the fire. 🙌
2. I did have one (1) temper tantrum about a silly thing because I was stressed, and I did pee in a red solo cup at 4am one night because I spooked myself with my big imagination and was too afraid to pee outside in the dark. 😳 But don’t ever tell anyone I told you that. Sometimes it’s hard being the adult!!! Either way I’m not perfect but it was still okay.
3. In spite of the ice forming on the lake my wild pupper jumped in after a hike to cool off. She then spent the rest of the night trying to sneak onto the kids sleeping bags to warm up. It’s like living with a cartoon.
4. Our city has gone back into lockdown as of this weekend. For one month. I’m so happy to have Max and Ms.O on my quaran-team. Especially because there are times where I need to be out of the house when my husband is here with the kids, lockdown makes that more complicated. More so now that there’s snow on the ground. A month ago I could sit by the lake or take a walk to kill time, that’s getting pretty unpleasant. O and Max will harbour me in spite of the restrictions, and that feels really good.
5. I just hit 100 Patrons for the first time EVER! I know these things always ebb and flow but it’s been a real boost to see that little bit of growth this month, especially when so many other things feel so uncertain. Thank you for being lovely.
6. In light of that I’m trying to think of a good giveaway for December, stay tuned...
7. I was supposed to get a big tattoo tomorrow but it’s now been postponed for the 3rd time because of ever changing covid restrictions. I’m so disappointed and I was so eager to add more flowers to my corporeal collection. It’s rescheduled again. One day!
8. Max, being the very best, knew I would be bummed and immediately offered to come over and spend the day in bed with me instead. That is one A+ Plan B.
9. Penpal packages and postcards will be in the mail tomorrow! Canadian packages take a week, 2 weeks for US and 3 weeks for overseas. 💕
10. What’s your favourite chilly day drink? Hot chocolate made with milk, and loaded with marshmallows that get all melty is my absolute fave. Tell me yours in the comments?
