Good Things

1. Puddle pants. Remember these from your toddler years? I found them in big girl sizes. With Care Bears on ‘em. They’re very little and cute.

2. Shout out to my girlfriend for spending 2 and a half hours on the phone with me yesterday when I was in crisis. She listened, and she distracted me with stories about her slutty dating days, which are my very favourite. She was at work and still made it feel like it wasn’t a chore. She insisted on being there for me. (Even though before this week she didn’t know about these struggles behind the scenes.)

3. My mom casually said during a chat that she wishes she had a wife. I giggled and she said “not in a gay way, I just want to share my life with a woman.” I told her that sounded pretty gay. She isn’t attracted to women sexually, but she loves the way women do companionship and care giving. It was an interesting point I hadn’t expected to hear from her.

4. Monday is Joie’s birthday! She’s going to drive over and do a socially distant dance party in front of my house. I haven’t seen her in 4 months and I can’t wait to see her face and her sweet dance moves. (Joie can do the MC Hammer dance like nobody’s business.)

5. I have my first therapy session in years on Tuesday and it couldn’t come quickly enough. I’m so glad I made the appointment two weeks ago. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

6. I’m super excited about my little prize giveaways this week! I think we could all use some fun. Stay tuned Monday for the first prize post.

7. Black Lives Matter and ACAB. I’ve been making donations to bail funds and community activist groups, The Minnesota Freedom Fund is listing local organizations to help rebuild and bring help to those who need it most. If you can help in anyway, this is an important time to do so. Be safe out there.

Thank you, too! It is good to have someone understand. I hope your mom finds it, too! I looked for underpants like those, with no luck although I did find some purple unicorn socks that hopefully will be stretch enough to fit. Can you share your source for them? ... Wait, no, I should have looked for "puddle pants"; I just found them! But they are sold out. I have put in an email to get alerted ifwhen they have more.

Thanks so much, this message means a lot. I understand what you mean about how your gender presentation speaks for you and your abilities sometimes. Also I want my mom to have that kind of companionship, I hope she can find it. Carebear underpants might be the way.....

Your mom's comment resonates with me a lot. I'm a guy and generally don't feel gender dysphoria, but what I see of how women do companionship and care-giving (and playing together, too) is what I want to be doing in my friendships, and I feel dysphoric sometimes about what my gender-presentation says about whether I would want to provide that. I've been having a lot of thinkythoughts in that direction lately, but not many words; this helps find a few. (Maybe I need some care-bear underpants!) Also the way your girlfriend supports you is wonderful and lovely and amazing and seeing her through your words the way you see her makes me happy. Also happy birthday to Joie! Yay, dance party, and if it's appropriate, pass along a happy birthday from me. Thank you for the Minnesota Freedom Fund link, too. I can help, and will be doing so; having the pointer makes that a lot easier.
